<DIV>Hello</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Since the patch of 5/3 I and many others who run Win98/ME have not been able to log into the game.  Is there any testing done for new patches on ALL operating systems that Sony claims to support?  We have been waiting for days for some kind of response to this issue now. . .I just bought the new expansion . it says on the box Windows 98/ME/2000/XP.  That is a very recent purchase . . last week in fact.  I have posted my specs in the Tech forum . . this post is just to find out if anyone knows how or even if patches are tested on ALL the operating systems, and if not . . why not?  It is decpetive to claim to run on an OS when, as of now, it is surely NOT running on Win98/ME.  Is there some way that patch can be tested now to see what is interfering with the log in.  We all get to loading entities and it hangs up at 99% . . sometimes it even gets to 100% but it never loads.   There must be something that can be done to restore things to the way they operated before that 5/3 patch.  Before that time I rarely had any problem at all with the game, no crashing , no freezing, it operated the way it was intended, but now . . not oeprating at all.  Please look into testing patches on all the operating systems, and find us a fix for whatever got broken on the 5/3 patch.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Anaba</DIV> <DIV> </DIV>

<DIV>You will eventually have to upgrade your Operating System I think.  Quite frankly I'm surprised that Everquest II even plays on Win 98 to begin with.  My Lord that OS is almost 10 years old.  I find it unbelievable that you'd have a system that would even halfway play this game decently while running an OS that old.  </DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>More power to you if you can I guess.  Don't expect that OS to last much longer though.  Micro$oft will probably stop supporting that, if they haven't already, when Vista comes out.</DIV>

<P>just an FYI </P> <P>Effective July 11, 2006, Windows 98, Windows 98 Second Edition, and Windows Me (and their related components) will transition to a non-supported status. After this date, Microsoft will no longer provide any incident support options or security updates. Microsoft is not offering a custom support agreement for these products. This is normally where most 3rd party software dev's stop supporting as well.</P>

<DIV>heh, if you are running Windows 98 you got problems far beyond EQ2. Upgrade your OS to something that isn't so easily hacked, is supported by the manufacturer of the OS, and maybe Sony will care. I personally wouldn't even look into an issue with an OS that isn't supported.</DIV>

Eq2 supports 98, it says SO on the Kos box i'm holding, even tho I don't run 98 (win2k is my choice) Anymore this SHOULD be fixed asap. oh And for you Xp beholders winXP is dead as soon vista comes out, There will be no Direct x 10 support for XP/2k upgrade or never play a new game again /laugh.<div></div><p>Message Edited by Bluefire721 on <span class=date_text>05-09-2006</span> <span class=time_text>06:38 PM</span>

Seriously, you can easily access all files on your computer through the internet if you don't have a firewall solution. Win9X (including ME) is an open system, anyone who wants can get into it, and there's no real way of protecting it, hence Microsoft went on to the Windows NT core <img src="/smilies/69934afc394145350659cd7add244ca9.gif" border="0" alt="SMILEY" />Also, I doubt it very much that Windows XP won't have DX10 support. Ofcource it's all pure speculation since M$ has not released any press about DX10 yet. What I also heard is that IE7 would never come to WinXP, which proved to be false, especialy since IE7Beta is already running on XP <img src="/smilies/69934afc394145350659cd7add244ca9.gif" border="0" alt="SMILEY" /><p>Message Edited by SG_01 on <span class=date_text>05-10-2006</span> <span class=time_text>02:26 PM</span>

Nothing is secure unless you take time to lockdown the OS, but your right you'll find a comeback as both OS's have so many Open holes its not even funny.<div></div>
