I wonder...probably many people asked for this before, but what the hell...here i go:I never know how my Str affects damage output of a weapon. Is it possible to add a stat (eg. Damage modifier) which would say how much my damage has risen due to Str increase? It would be very useful i think. At the moment I add Str. to my Shadowknight but i really am at a loss as to what damage should he do. I have eq a 10-31 weapon and keep doing damage ranging from 15 to 60. I think some form of clearing this out would be really appreciated by the players.

Weapons are meant to show you how much damage they will do taking into account all your str and dps buffs. It's broken atm.As a guide tho, you continue increasing your dmage with an increase in strength up to 7*your level. So at 70 you need 490 strength to maximise the damage bonus. Dps buffs from cetain classes cap at 100% as well.

As it is now, unless you increase your strength by 7 each level, your damage will go down... Increasing your Strength by 7 each level allows you to only maintain your damage...

Previously, Spells and CA had a base damage, and you got a damage modifier at different Stat levels ( IE 100, 200, 300....)... When you leveled, your damage did not go down, but you could increase your damage by further increasing the stat that effects your damage (Strenght for CAs and Int for spells)...

They changed that system to the way it currently is, where base damage is calculated by the Stat cap, and your damage is reduced the further away from the cap you are.... Resulting in a system that actually penalizes you for leveling....

Example... Say your level 50 (cap is 350) and your strength is at 350 (yeah won't happen, but this is the bes exmple).... Let's say you have a CA that does 2000 damage.... Now let's say you ding 51.... Congrats, kinda.... Now instead of being at your stat cap, you are 7 away... Guess what? Your damage just went from 2000 on your CA down to 1980, because you became further away from your stat cap....

Ding 52.... Well now your 14 away from cap, and your CA damage is reduced even more... now you can only do 1960 damage....

Now in order to be as powerfull as you were 2 levels ago, you must increase your strength by 14.... Each level after that you have to continue to increase your strength by 7 per level just to maintain the damage you had previously.... You do not become more powerful as you level, you just try to maintain the level of power you originally had when you obtained your CA until it gets replaced....

But, CAs and spells are not the only thing effected by this.... Your avoidance is also effected... Each time you level, your avoidance (defense) will drop unless you add 7 Agility...

This is still very much alive and kicking, despite the fact the Moorguard (I believe it was) said that was not the intended effect of this new system and that they were working on correcting this.... With the new expansion and leveling continued, as I went from level 60 up to level 68, I watched my avoidance fall and by defense drop, despite adding some new gear... Problem is, it's not that easy to increase stats by 56 (from level 60-68.. 8 levels X 7 per level = 56) just to maintain the level of damage / defense you were at prior to increasing your adventure level... The result from this is that as you level you become weaker... Your defense drops and your damage output decreases, so you take more damage and dish out less, which makes it more difficult as you are constantly facing harder mobs the more you level....

As the system stands, you are the most powerfull every 10 levels (10, 20, 30, 40, 50...) because that is when you can upgrade to the next tier's equipment, which is when you will see the largest change in your stats moving them closer to the stat cap.... You are the weakest at levels that end in 9's (19, 29, 39, 49....), because you have moved 63 points away from the cap from where you were on the 10's and pretty much the only option to make up that difference (before you can use the next tier's equipment) is to change to fabled gear, which the majority of people do not get....

So, increasing your strength by 7 each level as the cap goes up, does not give you a damage bonus, it just allows you to maintain your current damage.... A bonus is something beyond the norm, and just being able to maintain what you currently have is not a bonus.....

Gwerm - 68 Assassin / Nilla - 66 Alchemist

The response to your entire post: duh.We know it's not technically a bonus right now, thats why its bugged. It is INTENDED to be a bonus, hence calling it a bonus. If you call it anything else, you cover up the fact that it is bugged and non-functional.

So, don't put down someone elses effort to try to explain it to someone that does not know....

Gwern - 68 Assassin / Nilla - 66 Alchemist

I dont think he has ever written more than one line in response to anyones questions, and his replies are far from helpful. Most of them drip with contempt and impatience. I often wonder why he ever posts I think it is solely to see his post count go higher. His one sentence responses graze the focus of most content and he always manages to slip in arrogance and disgust for every other life form.

Ding!
