View Full Version : Auto attack on when spells cast - BARD

Rethink this... Troubador mez and Dirge fear both require the mob to NOT be attacked when the spell lands. Even if these particular spells are excluded from this change, the on again off again autoattack will be quite cumbersome for the troubador that mezzes/debuffs/etc when soloing. Oftentimes, I don't even use melee attacks or CAs when fighting a tough opponent.

Auto attack turn on when only "damage" spells. Mez and Fear don't have the relation. I hope so.However, I think It should be an option. I do not want for "auto turn on" more. Auto attack might not be always needed. On another note..I'm made to waste the arrow by "auto turn on" when ranged arts:smileysad:An unnecessary "Auto turn on" is unpleasant :smileymad:
このメッセージは 03-04-200602:50 PMに Suttokodokkoi が編集しています。

It really isn't very hard to click the auto attack button off prior to casting your mez...not wanting to belittle your concern, but of all the bugs and problems in the game this doesn't seem very bad

Never had a problem with this. I target the mob top be feared, start my fear song and then re-assist the tank while the spells is still casting. The spell will still continue to be cast on the original target with no chance of me hitting it once complete. Tab or assist macro is your friend here.

Same with res and debuffs etc. Little to no loss of DPS this way either.

My issue is that this change adds more annoyance for me than utility. What about aria procs on "non-damage" spells? Aria procs on all different types of spells, but the description doesn't necessarily say that. I suppose a dirge would be more interested in this change rather than a troubador (troubs can play almost primarily as a caster if they chose), but as someone who uses Mez often and has witnessed many side-effects of "beneficial" changes, I don't see how this change can do anything but harm my style of gaming.

To those saying "it's simple to turn it off", it's even simpler to turn auto-attack on and you have more control in the current state as to "when" to attack...

auto- Attack and Mezz A) Click attack or Ranged off and Mezz Mob B) Click on Mob to be Mezzed and before Mezz even lands Click on MT and start lazy assisting, see the Maintained spell window and that mezz has landed. if it has been resisted re-attempt to mezz. you do not heed to be targeting the mob you are mezzing when the mezz lands.

Does mez still trigger auto-attack on test? This is still a very bad change for the troubador if this goes live.

And yes, I know all about switching targets. The problem is that no matter what, there are times when you do not want to go into "combat" mode no matter what. Yes, I often run into such extreme CC situations. This is bad for soloing and small groups too. What if *I* am the tank? What then?

Bad change all around for crowd control spells.

As a Ranger I'd love the option to turn the auto-attack thing on or off. There are a few of our bow arts that require stealth and position, some which the bow art's distance is 5m shorter than the distance of the bow etc, so we can try a bow art, get 'out of range' and the auto attack turns on etc. There are several ways that this can happen as a Ranger, and especially on PvP server it's a major, major killer. And I imagine is still just as bad on the PvE servers. It can't be that hard to put in the option to turn it on and off.Would really love this please SoE!

I would love to see an option for:

Enable auto attack on hostile Combat Art.

Enable auto attack on hostile Spell.

Reason I would like to see both is because I'm not a bard, I'm a wizard and one of my new AA deaggro abilities is a combat art. Let's just say I'm not used to having my auto-attack turn on.

I have a question, If spells Turn auto attack on(this is assuming Melee auto attack) what happens if you are using your Bow at Max range and cast a spell? Do you switch to Melee auto attack? this really would effect Troubies that hang with the casters in Raids, or trubies that want to play almost as casters(wich they can).

Is it possible to turn off the feature that makes you autoattack and/ or turn off the autofacing feature? I hate spinning around to face mobs when I'm pulling?

I turned it off well over a year ago so can't remember what menu it is under. But it is there somewhere lol.

I would love the ability to turn off the auto attack function of using combat arts. Or change it back to how it was early on in DoF. Where I could hit my auto melee attack and leave it up to prevent auto bow from going off when using bow arts. Not a big deal in groups or raids but make a big difference in solo play.

Good news, a dev posted in another thread that they are looking into an option to turn this off. Personally I can't wait to turn this stupid option off...
