Do you mean to say that there are specific new quests that you complete to gain AA exp?

When you say killing names, does that mean that killing normal mobs does not allow for AA exp?

Leveling up? Do you mean we get automatic AA's on each level advancement?

Please elaborate where you can.

Thank You

Sinestral

Normal mobs give no AA exp.

sinestral wrote:
Leveling up? Whenever you level up you get a set amount of experience towards your next advancement point.

Hope that helps!

Things that SoE deems are worthy of Achievement experience will gain you Achievement experience. For example, running around in KoS and finding the discovery points that give you xp will net you Achievement xp also. Doing some quests at the appropriate levels will get you Achievement xp. Killing named mobs is supposed to give you Achievement xp.

I don't think you get an entire Achievement point to spend just for levelling, but I think you do get a significant amount of xp for levelling, as when beta-buffed you end up with some 25 Achievement points to spend at 60 just from the levelling process. This may have changed when it hits live and might have only been an effect of the beta-buff.

In addition, I'm sure that they've said that, once you hit the level cap, any additional xp gained from mobs will go toward Achievement xp.

When you sah appropriate levels I assume you mean that a quest junkie like me who goes around and gathers low level quests (such as catalog, etc that yeild a house item book) won't get it for those but how close is close enough? Does any green quest no longer give it (even if a Heritage Quest)? Do you know if "blue" quests will or does it have to be white or above?

Insights appreciated as turning off exp might save some quests from going green and allow me to both enjoy my questing and get the maximum Achievement experience from them.

Thanks in advance.

Quests that are not greyed out should give achievement exp. Though, SOE may have some easier quests flagged as non achievement exp worthy. Though even green quests (for example a green heritage quest) will get you achievement exp. One thing I found in beta was that exploring doesn't seem to give achievement exp usually... untill you get to the high level zones. Then, just about every new place you find gives you exp. In Tier 2, 3 and 4 zones though theres just about nothing exploration wise that will actually net you achievement exp. Its limited to just like 2 or 3 very very difficult points of interest. I'd say the best way to get achievement exp is to go to a dungeon with a group and kill named mobs. Cuz then you get exp for killing the mob and you also get exp for any rare loot that gets dropped by those mobs.

Also, one other way to gain achievement exp is by completing collection quests. I guess thats covered under "Quests" but it actually has its own category under the achievement exp tab so I thought I'd mention it.

Message Edited by Shogok on 02-21-200610:18 AM

Wait let me get this straight. Players that have done there best to finish quests, heritage quests, and collection quests are now PUNISHED??? Because they cant get the AA points for those quests anymore??

Good system.

Do you need to have purchased KoS for the AA to work? I think that I know the answer---no---but this was something that some of my guildies seemed to think. Even though I haven't purchased KoS yet, I see the whole AA tree and it is pretty neat. Also, is there a link somewhere that discusses this whole AA concept. I didn't play EQ1 so I'm trying to figure this out.

Yes you need to have KoS registered on your account for your characters to utilize the Achievement system. If you don't have KoS you can see the tree on the achievement screen but you will not be able to generate achievement experience.

Thanks Terluk. So I guess to not totally [Removed for Content] my characters, I need to purchase KoS, even though none of them are level 60 just to take advantage of the AA system. I'm really not sure how I feel about this. I would have thought that this new feature would have been part of the big patch and not something that was only a feature of KoS.

I've pretty much been a fan of SOE and the direction this game is going. I never have had this big angst thing again SOE like a few posters seem to have. This angers me a bit and I feel like I'm being forced into buying a product that I haven't grown into yet (not being close to 60). Am I reading this wrong here? To not [Removed for Content] my low level characters, I need to buy this expansion? I waited until I reached level 45 to buy the DoF expansion pack. It was nice being able to purchase this when my character was finally able to survive in the area.

Side note: I'm not trying to be difficult or bash the game. I'm just a bit peeved. I feel like my arm is being twisted to buy a product right now in order to not [Removed for Content] my characters. I had all intentions of buying KoS at some future date, just not right now.
