Okay, I think I've nailed down the cause of a few minor crafting-related bugs currently on Test.

All seem to be related to the inventory items of the player. In various ways, adding, subtracting, moving or changing items in inventory are triggering these bugs outlined below. In short, I think that the game's crafting system is looking to the player's inventory for the correct component materials at various points, and seems to be getting fooled somehow if something in inventory changes. Devs with more under-the-hood knowledge of the coding might be able to find the direct cause from these observations.

Bug - Crafting UI automatically advances to component selection screen upon completing a combine

Description:After completing a crafting combine, the UI does not wait for user input of the Repeat or Recipes buttons. Instead, it automatically takes the user to the component selection screen for the previously created recipe.

Reproduce By:Completing any crafting combine.

Believed Cause:Receiving the item crafted in the combine changes the makeup of the player's inventory contents by adding one, either to a stack or to its own inventory slot. In both cases, inventory makeup is altered.

Bug - Changing inventory makeup while in the recipe screen automatically advances the crafting UI to the component selection screen

Description:When a recipe is selected in the recipe selection screen, changing the inventory contents will cause the crafting UI to advance to the component select screen without the user hitting the Create button

Reproduce By:Set crafting UI to recipe select at any crafting station, and highlight one recipe. Move any item in the character's inventory to another slot, pull one item off a stack, combine multiple smaller stacks of the same item type, equip an item from inventory, or unequip an item worn back into inventory - any change to the current form and contents of player inventory, and the UI advances to component select screen without direct user input.

Believed Cause:Again, it is believed that any change to the current inventory of the player is causing the UI to advance to component select.

Bug - Erroneous chat messages of "You can only work on one recipe at a time."

Description:When beginning any crafting combine, the message "You can only work on one recipe at a time." is displayed in main chat. Changing inventory makeup during a crafting combine produces this message in chat as well.

Reproduce By:First case is reproduced by beginning any crafting combine. Additionally, if you change the contents of your inventory by any of the previously mentioned means (moving, adding, subtracting, etc.) during a crafting combine, you will also get the message displayed to chat.

Believed Cause:Again, change of the makeup of inventory seems to be somehow fooling the crafting system into thinking it should advance to the component select screen, thus making it think you're trying to start another combine while already engaged in one. In the case of the message at the start of a combine, the inventory change is the components used in the combine itself - being reserved for removal from inventory once the combine is complete. In the latter case, the user themselves move or change the inventory makeup.

Bug - Erroneous chat message of "You must have a [crafting station] targeted, to start this recipe."

Description:An obscure, but related, bug I found while investigating the above three. While in a tradeskill instance, sometimes you'll receive chat messages of "You must have a [crafting station of choice] targeted, to start this recipe."

Reproduce By:Choose a crafting station, and open the recipe list. Select one recipe. Close the crafting UI, and deselect the crafting station. Alter your inventory items in some way - move, add, remove, etc., and the message will be sent to main chat.

Believed Cause:Even when not in an active crafting session, it seems that the game is remembering that you had a recipe selected at a station (probably via your own recipe book). Changing inventory contents, with the bugs noted in this thread, are telling the crafting UI to advance to the component select screen, but since you don't have a crafting station targeted at the time it tries to advance to component select, you get the error message sent.

If anyone finds additional, or conflicting, evidence surrounding these bugs, please add that info to this thread. There may also be other, as of yet not noticed, effects from the underlying cause, assuming I've assessed it correctly. Hopefully it'll help the Powers That Be squash these ones.

We've been working on the item examine window popping up over on the TS bug thread.

It seems to be related to the 'made by' tag. If you have stackables without a made by tag in your inventory, or are handed or recieve via mail or broker such stackables, there seems to be a random chance of the item examine window coming up. If happens while crafting the item (regardless of the settings for this in Options), when buying from the broker, when recieving things in mail, and when finishing a trade.

More good info in this thread: Tradekskill Bug List - Post LU 19
