If the intent of this change is to prevent people from zoning in after the kill and getting the update, it's completely the wrong approach.  It is easily capable of getting people in within 30 minutes of the kill.  However, the first time my guild killed the Godking, it took us FAR longer than 30 minutes to get all the updates for people in raid, because of the spawning of those stupid minions of the Ewer (of which we had about a hundred up to clear through at one point).<div></div>

I haven't killed the godking yet. If there is a problem with people zoning in after the kill to get an update why not just make it so no one can enter the zone except at the very start with everyone else.<div></div>

I have mixed feelings about this.  It's rough to get those 9 eyes just to get into the zone.  If you have more than 24 people then some have to sit out.  It's not fun if 24 members of your guild get their updates and say 6 or so don't.  Then what?  Have the entire guild continue to farm eyes for the other 6?  That's certainly the fair thing to do but I can almost guarantee that the turn out for farming those eyes is going to drop off dramatically.  Especially once KoS ships.  So for those reasons I think it's good that people can be zoned in after the kill to get the update.  On the other hand, holding the zone open for 18+ hours for anyone and their brother, or potentially selling tickets is obviously not the idea.  For a guild that's going in the first time and doesn't have prior experience, half an hour could be squeezing it a bit.  I can't imagine how angry players will be if they succeed in the kill but then miss the half hour cut off. <div></div>

I think this is there quick fix to keep guilds from broadcasting over the chat channels that for a certain amount of plat you can come in and get your pris 2.0 update. That was done on my server a few days before the merger. The guild had one person stay outside the zone while the rest took down the Godking. I hope they see that 30 mins is not anough time for even the raid to all get the update , if that happens ( I haven't got to that part yet so I have no idea how long it takes ) and changes it to a lock out or something like that. Plus with the mergers, the lag is so bad in SC that it is getting tough to just get the last 2 eyes we need. The last couple of times we have gone into SC , the zone population has been over 90 people for the most part. A new zone would be nice at maybe 50 or a little more since the zone has gone over 100 since the merger.<div></div>

Honestly, they should have added the kill Godking Anuk step to it. No point in having it not include it. Plus so you have 30 people who need the update, and 6 that dont. So farm the eyes again, the loot godking drops for people first killing is still high quality. Fellbrand is a great shield, Anuk's Vile Carapace is a great BP for crusaders. The Mage forearms are great, the Druid Leggings are great, the Bard BP is nice.

<div></div><p><font color="#33ccff">This is just more proof that SoE will take the easy road out and not actually think about things. The easiest way to fix it so that only the people on the raid can get the item is to simply add "Kill the Godking" as a step in the quest. If you are not in there to do it, you can't get the update.</font></p><p><font color="#33ccff">Instead, once again SoE decides to make silly changes that effects everyone, even the honest people. My guild was the first on the server to kill the Godking, and the actual updates took far longer than 30 minutes. First, when he finally dies, there was 5-10 minutes of people cheering and screaming and overall congrats. Then there was the loot on the Godking himself that had to be sorted out. That took another 10 minutes or so. Finally, we were able to get our update... which took FOREVER. There were mobs spawning, and none of us had a clue as how to actually update the quest. It took a while to figure that out, while killing mobs and then the added excitement people had. I imagine that the guilds out there who have yet to complete this will have some of the same experiences. Sure, everyone is probably now aware of how to update the quest, and to be aware of the spawns, but it's still going to take a while. I would hate to see a guild that worked it's butt off to farm 9 eyes, actually kill the godking, and then loose their update because it took them 40 minutes to get everyone calmed back down and get 24 updates. </font></p><p><font color="#33ccff">SoE, please reconsider!</font></p>

<div></div>It doesn't seem so much to me as them trying to stop people from zoning in after he dies.. you can still do it, you just have to be prepared and ready for it after he dies.  What it's stopping is people leaving a few people in zone after the raid, for hours.. or days at a time (if there are no server downtimes) and allowing people to finish end steps of the quest and still get the Godking update. If they wanted to stop people outside the raid from getting updates, they certainly have the capability of doing that through other methods since many quests have "Slay Random_Monster_X" as a quest-step.

<div></div>I agree that the kill godking step addition seems more logical. The end of an epic quest like this shouldn't be a failure due to a timer, its just too much effort for such a silly reason for failure. The coordination and time committment for this quest is huge and therefore you'd think some leniency could be applied.

<div></div>Funk dat!  Our first time through it took us over an hour to get the raid members their updates much less anyone that was sitting out.  Cheaters abound - you zig and they'll zag, don't punish the people that actually do the work (figure it out without spoilers etc.)

<div></div><p>Yup a few are on the right track,</p><p> </p><p>The way to fix this so that NO one can exploit it is to add an update for the quests for the killing of the god king himself,</p><p>Hey the quests even said you had to kill him so why was there not an update step for it?</p><p> </p><p>That way only poeple who were in the raid at the time of his death can compleat the quests,</p><p>Locking the zone to the orignal group is a pain if you have late arrivers or some-one has to leave then you can't replace,</p><p>The 30 min is a laugh, we also had a swarm of those painful skely's and it took us an age before we could get everyone up top to get the update,</p><p> </p><p>Seems like another quick easy fix they have here that hurts the honest players.</p>

With this change the following will happen:1) Killing the Godking will not guarantee quest updates,it will drastically reduce the chance.  Now, its nearly guaranteed, not 100% because you can still zone out.2) Guilds familar with the process still have 30 minutes in which to get as many people upgraded as possible, instead of server downtime. Therefore, this doesnt seem to solve any problems but instead makes matters worse.Logical solution:--Have the quests update from killing the Godking<div></div>

<div>Ugh that's a dumb way to fix a exploit.  This really hurts us legit people.  As someone mentioned in the thread why not simply make it so you must kill the Godking to advance your quest up until the final point?   Nobody enjoys timers or having to race to do things that take quite awhile to do, especially for guilds who are doing it for there first time, and are overly excited and have 24 pople to get the update.  Please SoE find a better solution!!! /vetos the change</div>

<div>There is a video somewhere on these forums on 'what to not do after killing godking', quite amusing to see really.</div><div> </div><div>Anyways, when we killed Godking, we decided to go for 'safe updates' by getting it one by one with raidleader calling out who's turn it was. Needless to say, had we had a 30 min timer on us, atleast half raid would have missed out on their update. This idea sounds like 'zerg updating' to me. <em>'All run to wall, jump up and get to the pillar thingie on my mark! If ye die, revive in zone and sprint back! If ye get update, die and wait reviving till all are done! Go!!!!!!!</em>'</div><div>Kabooooom!!</div>

<div></div>Yeah, theres way better solutions to fixing the exploit in updates after the godking dies.  Nobody wants to be rushed with so much at stake with 24 people.(losing the eyes upsetting the guild because of a mistake or not knowing every answer for updates thus causes members not getting there updates).  Devs should really put there heads together and think of a better solution then this.  This is an unexceptable change  My guild has had a almost a couple set of eyes for a few weeks but a good portion of the guild wasn't ready so we delayed then delayed again because of people going out of town.  Now were punished all because of some exploiters selling raid invites into a completed godking instance.  I don't consider this fair at all. <img src="/smilies/9d71f0541cff0a302a0309c5079e8dee.gif" border="0" alt="SMILEY" />

<div></div>This is why not to add the update.  This is the link to the video that was discussed above.  <a target="_blank" href="http://files.filefront.com/ghfwmv/;4757508;;/fileinfo.html">http://files.filefront.com/ghfwmv/;4757508;;/fileinfo.html</a>
