View Full Version : Kind of worried about AA abilities.....

<div><div>Don't get me wrong, I am looking forward to AA's. I loved them in eq1 and they will be nice to have. I like all of the abilities and it will be hard to choose which path to take with my different characters. But as anyone who has played eq1 and eq2 knows, SoE has never ever added something to the game and had it be complete and balanced from the start. With eq2 it has been even worse. SoE has constantly made wide and sweeping changes that completely and utterly change class dynamics. </div><div> </div><div>Now in eq1 it was no big deal. You could get as many AA's as you wanted. If something was nerfed/removed/changed you always had the option to go grind some more xp and get the ones that you did want. Now with their implementation in EQ2, we are limited. You can't get all the AA's you want, there is a set amount. And I doubt that we will be allowed to unlearn AA's and change them later. So we will be putting in tons of work to get them and at this point I very much believe that there will be wild swings in SoE's mood that will alter these skills drastically in some way down the line. Recreating a level 10 because your class was completely changed is one thing. However restarting a level 70 with 50 aa's invested is another thing altogether.</div><div> </div><div>Now the original announcement of these abilities stated that they would be something that would be nice to have and customize your character with, but would not be completely necessary to stay competitive. They would not make or break you. But now that the NDA has been lifted and we are getting actual hard data on what the abilities are, they are in actuality very powerful enhancements/changes to your character. I can forsee raiding guilds requiring certain classes to have certain AA's once again. And being that they are actually very powerful, we all know that there will be some that will be changed in the future. </div><div> </div><div>To me this is a very scary situation. I lost my faith many LU's ago...</div></div>

<div>This is good to hear. I hope they find a good balance between making it reasonable to do, but not so easy that it is exploitable (i.e. respec to DPS mode in the afternoon to group, then respeccing to tank mode in the evening to raid). As well as I hope that it will not be a one time shot only type of thing.</div>

<div>They said for sure that we're not permanently stuck with our choices, but I haven't seen just how that's being done.</div>

<div></div>Although they haven't given complete details I know they mentioned there would be a way to do so that would cost some amount of money in the game to do so. I haven't though seen any mention about how much it will cost. Although probalby over a gold at least.

The only thing I hate about the AAs is yet even more weapon swapping. Requiring certain weapons on some AAs is lame.<p>Message Edited by Scortch on <span class="date_text">02-15-2006</span><span class="time_text">02:19 PM</span></p>

<div>i agree, some said you need a sword or a hammer.</div><div> if they are gonna do that they might as well change it to a bonus for slash, pierce, crush. or for that matter 2h or dual weild.</div><div> well.. i wont complain too much untill the system is in place and we can see it first hand</div>

I don't mind that they are requiring certain weapon types, as it leads me to believe that they are going to be focusing on more class-specific gear. That said, if you're a shaman and all the spears totally suck for shamans then they seriosly dropped the ball.<div></div>
