From my best understanding, there will be no pvp on the test server at all. The pvp system is in beta at this time and will be released with the KoS expansion on seperate servers.

From the Kingdom of Sky and PvP Beta Registration Now Open! news post:Registering for the KoS beta will automatically enroll you in the PvP beta test.

I'd take that to mean that KoS beta testers have access to the PvP beta.

Dueling fine, arena fights sure yay go for it, but full blown PvP no way. I hope it fails, I pray it fails.

Funny thing is a lot of those WOW PVPrs are reading the form of PVP that is coming to EQII and wanting to know why Blizzard can't do it Sony's way. Everything that Sony is doing in this form of PVP Blizzard has told its customers it can't do.

Actually for those of you who are dead set against PvP, all I can say is give EQ2 PvP a try when it goes live. Seriously, it is the closest thing you will ever find to the PERFECT RPG ever. I love the EQ franchise. I did not like PvP either, and I was swayed into playing PvP by several guildwars and what not. EQ 1 PvP could not ever be done right. This game, EQ2 however, has it right. Its perfect. Flawless. No there is no PvP on test, nor should there ever be. Test is for making sure the game overall works correctly and that new content is functional before going live.

But give PvP a try when it goes live seriously. You may find yourself pleasantly surprised.

RAGE ON

The classes are not balanced against each other, they are balanced within their class tree. There is no way ever that the best geared and most experienced coercer for example could beat the equivilant brigand or ranger. Now I've picked extremes, but there are quite a few other mismatches that are pretty near to be absurd. So what happens is all the people who play class "X" that sucks in PvP will cry and demand equality, and you and I and everyone else with 1/2 a clue or more knows that SoE doles out Equality at the end of the nerf stick. I don't want to see the PvE game I love and enjoy be destroyed because the people who honestly couldn't hack it in WoW want PvP in EQ2. Every advantage that a certain class has in PvE will be exploited in PvP to the point that SoE will have to fix it, and when that happens it makes PvE suck just a little bit more.

PvP will have a set of servers all its own. That said, your assumptions are incorrect. EQ2 was designed to be PvE (only) at launch, BUT PvP was being considered from day one. They were not going to implement at launch but the built the structure that would SUPPORT PvP without radical changes and balances. Some classes will have a harder time against certain classes, true. No class is unbeatable by every class, and every class HAS A CHANCE against every other class.

I am not asking any one to give up all the characters they worked long and hard to build, but I AM asking each of you to have an open mind. Read "Greatest PvP ever." http://eqiiforums.station.sony.com/eq2/board/message?board.id=pvp&message.id=18521#M18521 Sony has put in SO much work and it is pretty much perfect. No griefers, the play is flawless, and they haven't had to nerf a thing ot get the tweaking of the classes to play to music

Just give the PvP a look when it comes out.
I will give it a try but don't have my hopes set very high. I also worry that nerfs necessary to balance things on PVP will migrate back to PVE. I don't see SOE maintaining two different versions of the code.

On the PvP Beta server, "Examine" and "Examine PvP" yield two different results for each spell and combat art.
