<div>The game has been out for well over a year, and now we are supposed to get excited over a new Character Progression System for newly created characters. The company has even gone so far as to design all new newbie islands, change the entire class quest structure, etc. Wonderful .... except for one thing. Who, after starting this game well over a year ago, has a "Character Slot" that is free to make a newbie character? If I was to take advantage of this marvellous new system, it would require I delete my "lowbie" toon, who happens to be a level 20 templar and level 31 provisioner. I don't think so. </div><div> </div><div>Was there any talk (or even a hint) of handing out a couple more character slots with the expansion so that this awesome new design means anything to the "Loyal" veteran players that have kept this game afloat since launch? I personally, would like to try the new system, but as I've said, I don't want to be forced to delete an existing character to try it.</div><div> </div><div>Is it just me, or does this just sound like a really really stupid waste of designer resources if the game isn't going to offer at the very least two new slots to every account?</div>

<div>Unless your slots on the test server are also full, you have that as an option to test out the new low level changes.</div>
I have 4 slots free now, and I've been playing for awhile. I was always frustrated with starting a newbie character and going through 20 levels of the same thing. So, no, it does not sound like a waste.Plus, I think the redesign is geared to attract or reatrract(is that a even a word?) new players. If they wanted to do something for existing players, they would do an expansion pack, oh ya, that’s what they are doing too.

Most of the people I have play with have their main at 60 or very close to it, an alt in the 40's or 50's, an alt in the 30's and a few in the teens or 20's. Most also use alts as their tradeskillers, and some have several tradeskillers at various levels. Depending on how many slots you have total, to have 4 free, you have only been playing from 2 to 4 toons, and that is far less than anyone that's been in the game for the full time.</p><p>As the the idea that a Live Update is "geared to attract or re-attract new players" .... How would new players even know the difference? And players who have quit EQ2 are not going to come back because the game has changed the way the first few levels are handled. A Live Update should make the game a more rewarding experience for the currently existing player base, and by and large they usually do. I've been very impressed overall with all the possitive changes that have been made through the Live Updates. However, this one seems like it will do very few "existing" players much good and it more like a "taunt" to them then anything else. </p>

<div></div>It's their game and if they feel they can benefit from it, they will do it :smileyvery-happy:
