<div>Hi <img src="/smilies/3b63d1616c5dfcf29f8a7a031aaa7cad.gif" border="0" alt="SMILEY" /></div><div> </div><div>After trying to read the majority of 30 plus pages to the Roundtable discussion post about server merges, it seems clear that</div><div> </div><div>a) there is a whole lot of confusion</div><div>b) a whole lot of irritation and/or flat out anger</div><div>c) no fair way (that everyone thinks is fair) for resolving duplicate name issues</div><div> </div><div>Is it possible to add a nifty little announcement to the LU19 update that is coming tomorrow (???) that can be sent to your toon if someone else on the alternate server might potentially be taking your name.  This notice could be sent and you have time to either talk to the other character or /petition to keep your name because that person hasn't used their accounts in a year or they are 50 levels lower than you?</div><div> </div><div>I have checked and (unless there is something totally screwy) though there are numerous characters on the incoming server that share my characters' names, most of them are levels 1, 2, or 3... the only one I'm worried about is one that was created before mine, but is a level 20 adventurer and level 8 artisan and hasn't been played in months.  My Gaea is only level 20 pally, but is a level 57 provisioner.</div><div> </div><div>Please consider holding off on the mergers until after you see how many people who have left come back for the expansion.  A number of months ago I would have agreed that the servers needed some merging, but in the past few months, I haven't had any problems finding a group on any of my many characters/classes and now I think it would just cause massive lag and over camped zones... it's not going to make the huge zones like antonica and commonlands that you fly through anyhow any more full.</div><div> </div><div>Unfortunately, I don't think you're going to find that people will swallow these changes as easily as they did when you gave us the combat changes along with DoF expansion.  This time it's a massive tradeskill change plus expansion... if you'd left it at that people would have gotten over it.  But adding the server merges on top of those changes is just.... too much.</div><div> </div><div>I understand that server mergers are an unnecessary evil sometimes, but perhaps you could have done one a month or something and gave everyone more than a few weeks' notice.  I know, I know.. you can't make all of the people happy all of the time, and there are some people out there who think it's a great idea. But the way you have gone about it is already setting up the newly merged servers to have problems with negativity and just a generally bad attitude towards existing people/incoming people who already have their names, nevermind towards the game...</div><div> </div><div>And if you thought people didn't group much outside their guilds before....</div><div> </div><div>I really hope I am completely wrong, and I do believe in the maturity, adaptability and kindness of most people enough to hope that even if this happens in the beginning, any problems will eventually go away.... but the name thing is going to cause more problems than you could have thought possible I think.... perhaps allowing us the opportunity to talk to the folks on our "partner" server prior to the mergers would help most people... and at least give us enough time to come up with a name we are happy with if it is ours that is going to change???</div><div> </div><div>just my 2cp (well it was a bit long, so maybe more like 4 or 5)</div>

yeah would be nice, i play on ab and am not worried about my name but as a high lvl adevnturer or crafter you toons name means something to you and those you have interacted with over the course of the game  and it would be a shame to lose it.  Like take my toon Coel his character name is used on butcherblock and najena.  i hope they (soe) really works with people on this<div></div>

<b>Boobookeysx says to Qeynos_Traders (3), "Hey, this is Boobookeys from Grobb, I'm changing my name to Wamallamadingdong for future reference"</b>I'm thinking something like that would easily solve your problems of name credibility <span>:smileyhappy:</span> Hell, it IS your name w/an X so they know that odds are very high that it's you.<div></div>

just type in your char. name into the character search box on Eq2players and filter it by the server that a) you are moving too or b) is merging with you.<div></div>

<div></div><blockquote><hr>Afmo_13 wrote:just type in your char. name into the character search box on Eq2players and filter it by the server that a) you are moving too or b) is merging with you.<div></div><hr></blockquote><p>Thank you <img src="/smilies/3b63d1616c5dfcf29f8a7a031aaa7cad.gif" border="0" alt="SMILEY" /> I know some people didn't know how to do that. But that still won't tell anyone which person will have their name changed.  I did that, which is how I saw what names others' had.  What I'm suggesting is that they alert the people that a) there is a duplicate name situation and b) whether they will get to keep their name or have to change it if the other person won't.... allowing someone like me with a bazillion alts to say, oh, well this name is for a character i don't play much so if it's one you do, you can have it <img src="/smilies/3b63d1616c5dfcf29f8a7a031aaa7cad.gif" border="0" alt="SMILEY" />  Or, vice versa... like, so and so hasn't leveled in 8 months - do you mind changing your name so my level 59 so and so can keep it?</p><p>That's sort of what I was suggesting... if it's possible</p><p> </p>
