I created a character last night on test, did what I thought was all the quests but no tradeskill that I could find. Got into Qeynos, got a note to join a tradeskill society, did that. Went over to pick up "Picking a Profession" quest. Was given a level 3 book and task but I am only lvl 1. Now what? Anybody know what the plan is.

If you hail the tradeskill vendor in the ts instance on the isle he gives you a set of recipes to get you started.

Once off the island I think you need to go to the temple of light to get your TS lvl to 3.

-Xymph

Speak to the wholesaler in any tradeskill instance if you are level 1. There should be a message on your screen for 10 seconds when you enter that says to do this (if you are level 1). He/she will give you your lvl 2 recipe book, and bump your TS level to 2. We'll be improving on this process. The idea behind removing the instant level-up when leaving the island is to make the process feel less forced and more realistic.

Wouldnt it be better to automatically give the player a quest when they enter the wholesaler area at TS lvl 1? Complete with a wisp to the wholesaler. Veterans to the game wont have a problem figuring out without clues, experienced mmorg players will figure stuff out without a quest, but the true newbie need to be spoonfed these things.

Why don't we actually start Tradeskilling at *gasp* level 1.

Why do you level up for talking to someone? That is lame.

With the removal of all subcomponent items, what's the hold up? Even if you have to craft just 1 item, it would still be better than "talk to npc, gain a level" crafting.

Message Edited by Sell77 on 02-02-200606:05 AM

Thank you all for responding. I did re-read the test server update notes and saw that I needed to go to the Temple of Life. All fixed. I thought I had spoke to everyone and looked around everywhere on the island. I dont recall any tradeskill instance. I have been on this game over a year now and have several characters. If it is this hard for a veteran I can't imagine what an inpatient noob will experiance.

I'm on my second character now that did not get the level 1 recipes. She got the level 2 book and now knows the recipes, but none of the level 1. How can I get the level 1 recipes now?

There are no level 1 recipes. At level 1 you're 'Unskilled', not Artisan.

I had the same problem and I knew there are level 1 recipes because I already have 2 other tradeskillers. After going to the Temple of Wr and clicking the cross and hailing the wholesaler I /petitioned only to be told that I could not obtain the level one recipes after leaving the Isle.

I went ahead and bought the level 3 advanced artisan book from the wholesaler and scribed it - boom- there were my level 1, and level 3 recipes right in my tradeskill book.

Hope this helps
