<p>"ESC will cancel spell casts for new characters. Existing characters can map a key to the option in their Options (Controls -> Spell Keys -> Cancel Casting)."</p><p>Hiya, with this new Cancel Casting ability I just have a quick question to those on test that can test this out. If Cancel Casting is set to ESC, what happens when you are casting on a mob? Will ESC both cancel the spell/power (assuming this cancel works on both spells and powers) and clear your target/remove an open window? Or will ESC just cancel a spell/power if you are casting and not clear your target window and remove an open window?</p><p>Thanks.</p><div></div>

Peronsonally I can't wait for cancelling spells to come into effect... I've hit AoE buttons at the wrong time and to deal with the adds. The posibility I can cancle the 3s timer is fantastic news.<div></div>

<div>NOt sure but ESC by default closes the top window and removes targetting locks. Adding a third function to the same key could cause some annoying situations. At least these three things can each be seperately remapped. I really need to move the close top window to something else. I don't know how many times I missed out on a lotto roll because someone looted as I hit esc to clear my target.</div>

<div></div><p>Im curious about the ESC key canceling my target as well as the original poster.</p><p>Yes i welcome the ability to cancel my aoe when i click the wrong button in a crowded area, but i dont want to lose my target as well, that could lead to another myriad of problems...</p><p>I suppose with the option to change the key added into the UI options that I could just change the key to something else if that is the case, but im curious none the less. /shrug</p><p>let us know testers, because we are bored! :smileywink:</p>

So jumping for spell casters wasn't working? <span>:smileyvery-happy:</span> All it's ever taken for me was bumping the direction keys, or worst case, jumping.  For melee types, this is a little more useful, but I always just hit x (sit) or c (crouch) twice and never had issues .  /shrugIt's a neat thing, and a quick implement, I'm sure, but seems silly to add.  Just my 2cp of course.Daenearys D'Vorak53rd necromancer on LucanKalih50th monk on Lucan<div></div>

<div></div>NOt everyone will think of that solution, and it doesn't work on all spells and combat arts. My casters have mostly cancellable spells by moving, my fighters and scouts though don't have most of their combat arts and spells cancelled when moving so having an 'abort' key is handy in those cases, especially with their AEs. More than once on test I used an AE on my shadowknight just to have a guard come running in to save me and then had to die because the guard aggro'ed me when the AE hit him as well as the mobs I wanted to hit.

Sitting will cancel all abilities, even combat arts and hex dolls and what have you.<div></div>

<div>Testing the sit thing on live to see what happens. It's good to know that this is a current fix to the "whoops" accidents, but the down side is that if you are fighting, you have to hit attack again. But, still it is definately nice to have and know about. Thanks.</div><div> </div><div>In EQ1, when you sat, you took a lot more damage than when you stood. I don't know if this is the case for EQ2, but I gonna go test this out and see what happens.</div>

<div></div>Sorry, I was referring to currently on live servers, not test, via the use of sit. It turns off attack, but it's managable and better than nothing and it's good to know that it will cancel spells/powers currently on live. Thanks.

Or if it's a doll or other spell (generally long casts) just /sit.But if ESC now cancels everything inc dolls then I guess that's a good thing, but I'll just map it to SPACE as it's alot easier to hit in a hurry than ESC <img src="/smilies/283a16da79f3aa23fe1025c96295f04f.gif" border="0" alt="SMILEY" /></span></div>

Nah Esc has more of the "oh S***" feel to it reach across and bang the top left of the keyboard very hard. <img src="/smilies/283a16da79f3aa23fe1025c96295f04f.gif" border="0" alt="SMILEY" /><div></div>

<div>Have you ever been a scout, and went to hit one of your arts to only tap the hotkey for "Escape" at the same time?  I welcome the spell cancling ability, with open arms!  Go SOE for the best idea I've seen yet!  (Has been waiting for this for ages...since escape is not able to be cancled).</div>

Yes, many scout CAs cast while you're moving. I've always hit X to sit down in an emergency. Then I go on blasting away.<div></div>

<div>You know the funniest thing that has happened to me?</div><div> </div><div>We're in a battle, its going real bad....the MT shouts for Escape...I start casting...well...the mobs on me kill me...everyone else dies except the cleric (Good ol clerics, they know how to get their [expletive haxx0red by Raijinn] out of there)...the clercis starts rezing...I'm like second or so.</div><div> </div><div>The rez finishs, I accept...my escape starts casting from where it left off, of course taking me, the one freshly rezed and cleric back to the start.  Now tell me...[Removed for Content] happened there?  LOL  Not even death can stop Escape.  No one was mad, luckly...and after the initial horror and shock of what just happen fadded...I laughed over it. </div><div> </div><div>As I said before...I welcome spell and art cancling with OPEN ARMS.</div>
