What's with the IOU?

<div></div><p>Just a guess, but I assume whoever is looking over the quests and finds one missing a rewards sticks an IOU there.  Then the coders can do a blanket search for IOUs and replace them  with actual items.  It's what I would do <img src="/smilies/69934afc394145350659cd7add244ca9.gif" border="0" alt="SMILEY" /></p><p> </p>

It's either an item that they want to keep secret until the patch goes live, or the reward hasn't been decided/created yet.You saw alot of those in beta, it allows the mechanisms to be tested without having to put a real item in place and they change it later. e.g. Better than if you get a very cool item now, and in live they change it, causing cries of "nerf".<div></div>

<div>IOU usually means ye will get a reward from that quest in live servers, but its not itemzed yet, so instead of giving ye nada, ye are informed that its lacking atm.</div><div> </div><div> </div>

<div></div>I've got 2 of them on my shadowknight. One is from a quest that now has an item reward but my IOU never got updated with the item. THis is the 5 slot bag from one of the Outpost quests. Not sure which one the other IOU comes from but think it was from the last of the Outpost main story lines (though I did get the class weapon from it so not sure what the other item was supposed to be).
