<div>I have been thru these topics, and found this:</div><div> </div><div>__________________________________________________ ____________________________________</div><div> </div><div><p>1. Using Windows Explorer, navigate to the TestServer folder in your EverQuest II directory. Create a shortcut on your desktop for the TestEQ2.exe file, which is the launchpad used to connect to the Test server. You may rename the shortcut if you wish, but don't double-click it yet. If you do, you will end up downloading the entire Test client, which would be a long and unnecessary process.</p><p>2. Highlight all the files and folders in the EverQuest II root directory EXCEPT the following: the cache folder, the logincache folder, the TestServer folder, and the eq2_default.ini file. (You can use Control-A to highlight all the files and folders, then hold down the Control key and left-click on those folders and files to de-select them.) Right-click and drag the selected folders to the TestServer folder. Select the option to COPY the files and folders, NOT move them.</p><p>3. When the copy is complete, double-click the desktop shortcut you made in Step 1. This will run the Test server launchpad and update the client to be able to connect to the Test server.</p><p>Using this method, you can use your regular EverQuest II shorcut to connect to the normal servers and the Test launchpad shortcut to connect to the Test server. Keeping the Test client in its own folder takes up a significant amount of hard drive space but will save you a lot of time updating both clients in the future.</p><p>__________________________________________________ ________________________________</p><p>Now, I have done that, yet I still cant get to test..When I load up the test launcher, it tells me I have like 60 hours of patch time to go..That quickly drops down to around 20 some hours...but cmon. Then I tryed letting it Download for that long, and when I woke up the next day, it went back up to 35 hours..whats up with this?</p><p>If anyone had the same problem and knows a quick fix, please let me know, as I would really love to check out the new island.</p><p><Plus its alI have to do till PvP comes out></p></div>

<div></div><p>It's just going to take a while, just like if you were installing the game from disks pressed last december.  I hadn't fired up Test since just pre-LU 13, and it took 5 1/2 hours.</p><p>Sorry, there's just a LOT of data that's changed.</p>

It varies on different PCs. My test server patching only takes about 20 minutes to an hour but maybe I'm one of the lucky ones <img src="/smilies/283a16da79f3aa23fe1025c96295f04f.gif" border="0" alt="SMILEY" /><div></div>

<div></div>It shouldn't take you that long.  I decided to log on to test for the first time just a couple of days ago.  followed the same directions you did and it only took about 30 min to copy the files to the test folder and then about another 30 to patch.  You must be doing something wrong.  Are you sure you are copying your files from you EQ2 folder to the Test folder?

<div></div>Took me 35 minutes after I copied everything to the test directory.  I have DSL (3MB/sec Downstream).

<div></div><div></div><p>TY for the replies..But I dont think its just a matter of PC, or lots of stuff to change. Admittedly, I have no clue what it is tho.</p><p>But, after hearing about the new islands, me and my brother-in-law both looked up how to do test..He was done and on the island in an hour, Its been patching for me for about 16 hours..I started it up at 10pm at night, and by 6 am..it gained about 10 more hours of download time, did that 2 nights in a row..But we did the exact same thing in accordance with what i posted above. I know because he came over and checked it out to make sure..And, altho we both have pretty good dell computers, Mine is better by a very slight margin 3.2 gh proc to his 2.8, both have 256mb VC, with 1gig ram each...We cant figure it out (</p><p>I am willing ot just let my computer patch for a few days, but if the patcher is going backwards in time remaining..I have no hope</p><p> </p><p>edite> We live in the same town, and both have DSL</p><p>Message Edited by gamerman5000 on <span class="date_text">01-16-2006</span><span class="time_text">09:34 AM</span></p>

<div></div><p>>but if the patcher is going backwards in time remaining..I have no hopeApparently you're not used to Windows time. :smileyvery-happy: In Windows time, timers count down, and up, and to some outrageous extreme, and then suddenly the job is finished. This happens with actual counters and progress bars and whatnot. <img src="/smilies/3b63d1616c5dfcf29f8a7a031aaa7cad.gif" border="0" alt="SMILEY" /></p><p>On a serious note, it's very hard to accurately measure how long something like a patch download will take. There are a bunch of variables and unfortunately, it's often done with a (number-of-files x size-of-this-file) calculation, which is dreadfully inaccurate if you download, say, one big file first, then a number of little files.</p>

<div></div>And don't forget that a lot depends on how you connected to the download server.  If your connection happens to take a congested route through the internet, it can slow things down.

I was having the same problem execpt mine was going to take 9 hours. I did all the copying and stuff but my mistake came when I copied the Test startup icon to my desktop instead of creating a shortcut to my desktop. It proceeded to install all of the test software to my desktop instead of the EQ2 Testserver directory. after I fixed this problem it took about 20 min to patch to the test code.<div></div>

Are you sure you transferred your "Patch" folder to the test folder? If you didn't, you'll be downloading everything again.<div></div>
