Actually for a lot of the Freeport armor its just the icon that's a pinkish red (Think its supposed to be red but the tint is a bit towards pink, as the Qeynos icons are a robins egg blue, a bit pastel, though the armor itself isn't the same tint). In Freeport the Berserker trainer has reddish-pink plate armor, sticks out a lot and looks a bit silly I think, but he's a berserker I'm not going to say anything to his face about it

I got that for my necro. It certainly looks like it MEANS to be red, but just comes across a little too far on the pink side - kind of mulberry rather than blood.

I darkened the armor slightly. Not sure if this made it in today, if not it will soon. The problem we run into is the continuity of leveling up and searching for something better. If we give the crimson red robe of uber darkness right off the bat, it makes it hard to make a super crimson robe of uber darkness (tm). Thanks for the feedback.

People want their characters to look nice, to look cool all the time. They want to have a certain look that sets them apart. Unfortunately, EQ2 has failed awesomely at this. There's not really any individuality to the game. There's no way for us to create our look and have it be our look. SOE should have went with a character creation system similar to City of Heroes. I would love for less detailed and shiny armor if it meant I could create a character image of my own choosing and stick with it throughout the life of that character. Loot drops could be used to open up new graphics for characters as they adventure. They take a pattern back to an npc tailor or maybe even pc's could become tailors and create a new graphic that the character could add to their lineup of outfits.Stat enhancements and effects could be achieved by using inventory slots just the way we do now, but without the graphic tied to that slot. My lvl 12 SK on the test server looks horrible. Leather boots, chain pants, leather tunic, plate arms, cloth bracer, and leather gloves. All of wildly different colors. I have no choice but to wear those if I want to wear something other than the no stat armor you buy from NPC's (which I couldn't afford a full set anyway).I'd love for there to be a way for us to decide what our characters armor looks like, regardless of what they're actually wearing. Realism is ok, but the current mismatched sets of armor are nothing realistic at all. You can't just slap on a pair of metal vangaurd armor without the full suit so all the straps and buckles support the weight across the body evenly.

I would give up tons of the so called "realism" we have in graphics now just for some diversity. Forget the shiny, dented beat up armor that looks like crap. Go with some real nice looking armor that you can piece together, change colors, and fiddle around with til you're happy with it. Just like City of Heroes. Plate and chain could be about equal. All should have a variety of colors and some should overlap. ALso it should be a tint not a fully wash. Some areas of armor should stay the original color, and maybe the tints only alter the color not replace it. I always hated the fact that the 'cool' color dyes were so massively expensive hard to find. Dyes/tints should all be equal and not too hard. Perhaps they could be new alchemist recipes to make them rather than have merchants do them. As for applying them that's another story. You could try yourself but if you weren't a crafter of hte right type to make the type of armor you're dying you could botch it with random results (and for non-legendary and fabled maybe it could get ruined or at least visually nighmarishly pink heh). Some armor might also be undyable (especially fabled since these are supposed to be distinctive armors anyway). You could have someone else dye it for you but only if its not already attuned (unless they added a mechanism to allow 'lending' an item for purpose of dying or imbuing but not equipabble to the person doing it). There is options they could use but none of them are really all that easy to implement due to the way the engine currently works. What may seem simple to us may be a lot harder when you take into account how the item database works.
