I think a lot of casters remember a while back, a bug that when rooted mobs warped/teleported to the casters location and started doing melee damage. This was fixed not long after i first started to experience it, (took prolly a week or two). Well that bug is back, happens less frequently than the last time it occured though. I have now died a few times due to this. PLEASE Devs look into this bug and fix it ASAP.

Thanks!!!

P.S. Bug report sent.

Happens alot to me in EL, especially around the shore but it hasn't happened to me anywhere else yet. It seems to be if my elevation is different than the mobs it will warp to me.

I know this is the test forum, I'm not on test, I am on Oggok.

Just thought I would comment on this also as I would like it to be fixed

This has happened to me a few times while playing one of my alts.... It happened in Enchanted Lands and in Fallen Gate.... Kinda sucks too, almost solo'd a heroic named (8 levels below my alt) with my Lev 30 Coercer and at the last second it warped right on top me and killed me.... It would have been very close, but there was nothing I could do when it warped right on top me with no time to react...

Gwern - 60 Assassin / Parody - 54 Troubador

this happened, but it wasn't rooted, it was snared heavily in the elfin wonderland area, the wolves would suddenly port right on top of me ( was a 54 at the time w/ master Corral - 64% snare) the wolves would do this randomly, and only when using some skill called charging bite.

It hasn't happened on my Wizard (Feerrott, EL, Zek, etc), but it has happened to my new summoner alt in places like Antonica, Oakmyst, The Caves, etc. It's more likely to happen if there is terrain or whatever that might not give the mob "line of sight" to my summoner. Thankfully the pet's taunts seem to work pretty well, so far...

good now all they need to do is increase mob melee damage. then you will see what it is like for a healer to solo.

Cowdenicus wrote:good now all they need to do is increase mob melee damage. then you will see what it is like for a healer to solo.

All healers can wear more protective armor than any mage. Even light armor is more protective than cloth with chain and plate even more protective. In addition, healers have more hitpoints than mages. Mages also have no way to increase their hitpoints during a battle, such as from heals of -any- type (except potions which can basically only be used once a fight or with the proc of an imbued robe). Try stripping to your skivvies and not use any heals at all in a battle.. then you might see what it is like for a mage to solo with the warp on root.

an update to this issue... it seems that raptors are specially prone to this phenomenon... i would really hate to think that this is a new "skill" thye have learned... also noticed it on reptilians in LS and EF... maybe it is a reptilian new skill? anyone else encountered same? or other mobs?

i don't think it's a mob specific thing and i do think it's a bug. as in it's not something that's meant to happen. i have been noticing it on my level 29 wizard alt. it happened once with a bear in nek forest. it doesn't happen a whole lot but still. they really should fix this.

I think this is fine, I also think that people like you high dps classes should adapt, or just die. or maybe you can (gasp) take a healer along for the ride.

The BUG is probably related to the evac/escape warp. If you evac from one end of the zone because you're all about to wipe, as soon as you arrive, the stuff you were escaping from appears and continues to beat the snot out of you. There was some code change to make it so that one cannot get a mob stuck in geometry where you could hit it and it could not hit you (I think it might have been related to them trying to fix the problem of the mobs getting stuck where you couldn't hit them but they can hit you). The only times I have noticed warping is when the mob can't see you when it has an attack, no matter where you are. If it's rooted and a blade of grass makes it think it can't see you, pop, there it is, right on top of you. If the group is evac'ed by the scout or whoever, since the mob can't see you, pop, there it is at the zone line with you. Evacuate -should- be something a group can use to get out of a sticky situation, not just something to get you from one end of the zone to another when you aren't in combat. I do agree that evac shouldn't break agro if your reappear spot is right next to the whatever, but... If you are up at Bone Lake, for example, when you reappear at the gates to the Commonlands, the Rumble-bushes shouldn't appear there with you (and definately not after you had tried unsuccessfully to yell out of the combat several times, did several runs 'round the Lake after running with that same group up from the griffon station at N'Marr's...). If, for another example, you are fighting the last 2 sisters and their friends in Nek Castle and visibly in over your heads, the evac to the entrance should have them appearing right next to you to finish you off.

I've been seeing it with animal type mobs ever since they had their abilities altered. As far as I know it has been a problem since then, but I have been concentrating on humanoid mobs because of the problem so it may have gone away for a time without me noticing.

Don't worry, this is a temporary fix, as the true bug is that root works at all, it will be fixed in the next LU. Root spells are supposed to have two effects : 1) Filler in the spell list 2) An opportunity to use power. Any other use is an exploit, and should be reported.

Besides the raptors, I also noticed this as well with the great sabretooths in Pillars of Flame...it may be related to the new mob abilitites because the combat art it performed was called "pouncing" something. Seems to have broken root and warped at me when it did this...much in the same way my bruiser's "sonic fists" combat art works (except he can't break root).
Message Edited by Blackforgeosb on 01-05-2006 10:36 AM

Great. If this is true I will eventually die because of it. I pick on mobs that are way too risky :smileyindifferent:

Dragonflies are shocking for the mob warp thing, My swash uses chilling throw to pull (snare), mob instantly teleports over and uses that ****ing (starred out for your convenience) knockdown.
