I havent had any client crashes, problems with the new default quest journal, or any targeting problems. Nor have I heard of any my guild mates or friends having problems. Maybe you should go into more detail since I dont think these are well known problems.

Client crashes - pretty much random or at least no pattern I can tell - has happened to me about 6 times since LU 16 and to guildies a few times

Go to hit a button and client crashes to desktop - has happened on different alts and in different zones (Harclave, Antonica, Drowned Caverns, Stormhold) on different activities (casting, harvesting, auto run)

System geta clean bill of health from Norton Internet Security, Microsoft AntiSpyware, Spybot Search and Destroy, and Rootkit Revealer

I haven't played any Sony CDs on this computer that I remember - Latest video drivers - don't use SOGA models - nothing other than background security (Norton) running besides EQ

Journal Bug - not all quests appear in my quest journal (either sort option) or the quest helper window

I get the dings and windows telling me I completed a quest objective but it doesn't appear in journal or helper

Most recent quest was Maid For The Mist (looked under every zone and type including access in the journal under both sorts, even checked the completed tab)

Targeting Issues - getting pounded on by a mob and being told can't see target that is right in front of you is very frustrating - sometimes the mob is near a wall and you can back away and sometimes you and the mob are in the open

Sometimes area effects work, sometimes have to run

if your using any custom UI's remove them and look for replacements saying LU16 compatiable. I had similiar crashes and that fixed my problem. If not then man I feel for ya and hope you get it fixed.

A couple thoughts come immediately to mind:

This doesn't seem widespread enough to pin it squarely on LU16. Doesn't mean it isn't an LU16 problem, but there is no solid proof.

Why would you assume, if it really is an LU16 issue, that moving on to LU17 doesn't include a fix? That's usually a good portion of LU's, fixes for existing issues.

another item I hear on the cs boards often is to delete your char ini files. thats a pita but might be worth a try.

My random crashes, generally not to desktop but complete and utter system crashes started before LU15 when they changed something about the way water and reflections are done. I know it's changed because the whole option section for that part of the dispalay has -drastically- changed. I hadn't changed computers (though I will be upgrading vid, ram, and sound this weekend) or settings but my lagginess in water related zone areas went from minimal to extreme (to the point of not even wanting to go to Zek for -anything- even though once past the fort area it's fine). I went from never crashing to crashing at least once a night if I play longer than a couple hours or pass through more than 3 or 4 zones and hit a watery area). It's reminiscent of when I had less than 1Gb of memory and an ATI 5800 Radeon. I currently have a Nvidia 5500 (with updated drivers), 1Gb RAM, and on-board sound. Because I have also gotten bad sound stutters (only since the CU) in groups or raids with more than one caster, I'm putting in a seperate sound card to see if that can help not only with that but also to not have shared system resources for sound.

Landshark, you just described all the same problems I am having. No not conclusive it was LU16 but still an issue. It is very irrating to see a msg your QJ updated 6 times in a row and get nothing for the effort. I dont crash all that often but never used to and no i dont use custom UI's.

I used to suffer with crashing a fair bit, but of late it hasn't been so bad.

The quest journal thing is really annoying and most of my guild suffer from the same thing.

When I log on initally all my quests are there, when I join a group with one person it appears (tho ive not had chance to really test it yet) that quests disapear from the 'Active' tab and move to the 'shared' tab, when 3 or more people join a group it just all goes to hell.

I regularly find myself in groups where a member cant read their own quests but other people can via the shared area of the QJ, this leads to annoying situations where im constantly being asked "How many badgers do I need to kill now, and whats next to kill?"

I find this problem with the QJ by far the most annoying bug/issue that really needs sorting asap.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Not the original poster, but I can say with confidence that it's an LU16 issue. Why? I've been having the same issue *since* LU16, but not prior to it. Nothing on my system has changed in the interim. My screen will suddenly, randomly freeze and go pale, then the wonderful MS error window pops up telling me that EQ2 has had a critical error and must shut down and asking me if I wish to report it. I have, numerous times. I wanted to C&P the codes either here or to email to CS, but MS doesn't allow it. And it cites *WAY* more than I really want to type out. I typically play 4-5 hours after getting home from work, and I've averaged 1-2 crashes per session since LU16. Granted, I'm not running the world's meatiest system, but I'm not pushing the minimum reqs either.

The only LU16 issue i think needs to be Fixed before moving on is SOGA model bugs.

High Elf eyes are still big and round in most of thier moods
Dark elf and Half elf arms are at almost 45deg angles when standing still, as if theyre too buff to put thier arms at thier sides.

Why pin the blame on LU16? Occam's Razor, the behaviour started directly after the LU16 update, was not present before, and LU16 was not concurrent with other system changes.

No, I'm not using ATI. My opionion is that ATI is firmly in second place at the moment in the graphic card arena.

I don't care if the issues are fixed in an interim patch or in the next LU along with rollout of new functionality (obviously, the sooner the better). I feel that building new features on top of unstable code can lead to issues where more stable code is developed but can't be deployed because new stuff has been built on top of the old code.

I know Sony has to eliminate the possibility, but when they bother responding, their scripts seem to assume user error until proven otherwise.
