View Full Version : Heroic Opportunities Bug ( Scout-Priest-Mage 3-Archetype chain = common Fighter HO Wheel)

<DIV> <DIV>A number of months ago (Jan-Feb 2005) Heroic Opportunities had new results added, and problems were introduced to the system.  The most disappointing to me was a real paradigm shift in the HO system.  Prior to the update no HO wheels included Archetypes that were not involved in the Advancement Chain stage of the HO.  Now, the Scout-Priest-Mage 3-Archetype chain results in a common HO wheel that requires a Fighter to complete the HO.  Also, the Scout-Fighter-Priest 3-Archetype chain has a rare result that requires a Mage to complete the HO.  Are these two considered a bug?</DIV> <P><SPAN class=time_text>Chain <BR></SPAN><SPAN class=time_text><FONT color=#00cc00><STRONG>Scout</STRONG> Init</FONT> -> <FONT color=#cc9900><STRONG>Priest</STRONG> Chalice</FONT> -> <FONT color=#ff3300><STRONG>Mage</STRONG> Bolt</FONT> = 3-Archetype HO Wheel</SPAN> <P><SPAN class=time_text>One of the possible common results: </SPAN></P> <P><SPAN class=time_text><STRONG>Luminary Fate</STRONG><BR>Wheel Req = <FONT color=#0099ff><STRONG>Fighter</STRONG> Sword</FONT>, <FONT color=#cc9900><STRONG>Priest </STRONG>Eye</FONT>, <FONT color=#ff0000><STRONG>Mage </STRONG>Flame</FONT></SPAN></P> <P><U>Suggested fix:</U> <BR>Change the <FONT color=#0099ff><STRONG>Fighter </STRONG>Sword</FONT> to a <FONT color=#00cc00><STRONG>Scout</STRONG> Dagger <FONT color=#ffffff>since this is a Scout-Priest-Mage wheel.</FONT></FONT> </P> <P>--------------------------------------------------------------------------------</P> <P>The other 3-Archetype issue is the Scout-Fighter-Priest chain.</P> <P>Chain<BR><SPAN class=time_text><FONT color=#00cc00><STRONG>Scout</STRONG> Init</FONT> -> <FONT color=#cc9900><STRONG><FONT color=#0066ff>Figher</FONT> </STRONG></FONT><FONT color=#0066ff>Kick </FONT>-> <FONT color=#ff3300><FONT color=#cc9900><STRONG>Priest</STRONG> Chalice</FONT></FONT><FONT color=#ffffff> = 3-Archetype HO Wheel</FONT></SPAN></P> <P><SPAN class=time_text>One of the possible rare results:</SPAN></P> <P><STRONG>Shield Of Ancients</STRONG> - Group Armor Buff<BR>Wheel Req = <FONT color=#ff0000><STRONG>Mage </STRONG>Bolt<FONT color=#ffffff>,</FONT> </FONT><FONT color=#0099ff><STRONG>Fighter</STRONG> Taunt</FONT>, <FONT color=#cc9900><STRONG>Priest </STRONG>Moon</FONT></P> <P><U>Suggested fix:</U> <BR>Change the <FONT color=#ff0000><STRONG>Mage </STRONG>Bolt </FONT>to a <FONT color=#00cc00><STRONG>Scout</STRONG> Dagger <FONT color=#ffffff>since this is a Scout-Fighter-Priest wheel.</FONT></FONT> </P> <P>Since this one is a rare result, it's easier for the scout to flip out of than the <SPAN class=time_text><STRONG>Luminary Fate</STRONG> issue.</SPAN></P> <P><SPAN class=time_text>---------------------------------------------------------------</SPAN></P> <P>These are the only two problems found in all of the HO results.  Btw: I've been using <A href="http://www.gnorrath.com/" target=_blank><FONT color=#c8c1b5>http://www.gnorrath.com/</FONT></A> to check the charts, since I like the layout of that site.</P></DIV>

<P>I think this is actually a problem...</P> <P>It's hard enough to complete a long HO sometimes because people are paying more attention to doing their job instead of waiting for the wheel to cast their heal, but, to have it so that you may not be able to complete it when you actually find a group who can handle HO's just because you're missing an archtype?</P> <P>That's a slap in the face.</P> <P> </P> <P>Somebody really needs to take a look at this one.</P>

Because there are only two wheel results that have the problem I really don't think the fix could be difficult to make, especially since the suggested fix is to just replace one combat ability with another, which makes sense given the nature of the HO system.

<DIV>Last night I entered a pickup group that turned into an argument because of the above bug.</DIV>

Do you think the issue is even on their radar?  Or has too much time passed for the HO topic-line to peek the interest of any Dev who wanders into this board area?

But I should note that I've searched the boards on this and, while it has come up a few times over the last few months, the issue doesn't draw a lot of attention, and I've never seen any official comments on it.
