Seven simple words: "You have got to be kidding me!!" How is metallic blue even related to the colour scheme of EverQuest 2? I thought the brown textured backgorund worked very well with the UI but this change is just a big steaming pile of a joke. Stop screwing the UI and make new armour textures...

its highly annoying, on another note, yes, more armor looks are much needed..

You guys won't stop whining about brown and how dull it is and etc etc. Now you want it back? For the armor I agree 100%. But I don't think the guy working on UI is able to do armor texture so your point is ... strange at best.

EEK! Please fix the DEFAULT UI settings. After each LU, I always delete my character's UI file to get the NEW default UI, but lately, the chat window is in the very bottom left corner of the entire screen instead of along the letterbox like it should be. Also, the clock doesn't show up by default. I dont think this was intended. Please REDO the default UI scheme, so that new characters or characters redoing their UI don't have to move stuff around before they begin playing. Hope that made some sense.

I definitely dig the lbue and the swirlies. I've got a really nice mix going now of half custom UI files and half dafault, and with the tweaked coloring and borders it's become pretty much exactly what I wanted.

The new UI is very nice and compact. I prefer it a lot more than compared to the current wood style one on the live servers. I hope to see it on the live servers.

The new UI coloring is far and away superior to the 'wood' look it had before. Would have been one thing had the wood actually looked like wood, but it didn't. It looked like someone scraped through a layer of paint to reveal the other underneath, not wood.

While I am rather fond of the new color, I know some people aren't. Why can't a background tinter be added like the one in EQ1? That was rather nice. I had some windows backed in stark black, some in a mellow greeny color. But everyone could pick their own colors.

At this point, I think it would be a great Idea to have the current and New UI in the EQ2 folder to toggle. Then hopefully down the line they will have another UI for the next expantion and we can get a collection going.

Please add an option to choose between UI's, my girlfriend and I along with a few friends who play who have seen the new UI all prefer the wood grain look with the cut away borders used as frames. The new UI in my opinion is a bit garish and the lines are harsh, frankly it gives me a headache just looking at it. it brings to mind some of the UI's seen in some of the xbox games. so please give us an option to choose the existing UI or the new UI in update 16

thank you

Bloodeyes

Once LU16 hits, just open up your ../UI/Default folder, change "eq2ui" to "eq2ui LU16" and rename the "eq2ui old" file to "eq2ui".Problem solved.

timbdot
11-06-2005, 06:07 PM
Actually, that MAY not work.... In retrospect this may be what you want to do.Make a COPY of the ../UI/Default folder NOW, before LU16, paste it into the ../UI folder and name it "Custom", now go back into your root Everquest II directory, there will be a file called eq2.ini, open it...Put this in there:cl_ui_skinname Customcl_ui_subdir UI/Now, you're all set.If you do it this way, you're guaranteed to always have an old copy of the UI..-timb

The only problem with that is when Sony makes changes to the UI, they'll only be making changes to the new UI, not the old. If there's a problem with the old UI or there's an enhancement being made to the new UI, the old won't get any updates. This may also be the reason why they won't be offering a toggle command for the old and new, they don't want to be responsible for making updates to two different UI schemes.

-Phaldyne

Frankly, the people at EQ2Interface do this better than you do, SOE. Please just settle on a plain, basic default UI. The let the customisers do their magic... and then stop fiddling with it. If people want something different with their UI, they can pick and choose what they want. Every time you change the default UI, at least one of the UI elements I use has to be updated. The game is a year old. There is no reason to keep tweaking the default UI, especially when the underlying XML scheme allows users to customize it to their own specifications.--Zmobie

It's a smart move. Blue is the world's favorite color for most things. Unless your talking about cars, then it's silver.

I don't care what color it is...so long as we can shring the sub-windows more than we can right now (which slays me). My own name and especially my target and implied target are far too large now for how I've always set my letterbox size and for the last two weeks I've been almost dying trying to keep things neat and orderly in the top left of my screen since the disgusting changes. The trailerpark wood panel effect I could handle but for the love of the gods why did they force the size of target/name windows on us (just way, way too big with wasted space, especially your own name window).

And they still need to fix the quest journal, the "Completed" bug showing immediately as you get a brand new quest and the bigger fact that the "Completed" and "Heroic" text is corrupted and displays itself in the scroll bar off to the right side of the journal's window!

id prefer the new UI if it had a smoother feel to it...as previously stated by a poster it looks a little harsh. I personally think an option to switch between the two ( like we are able to switch between the old and new con modes) would quite nice not to mention the best way to avoid more public outcrys.
