View Full Version : OLD World mobs, what to do with them.

1) Leave them at the level they are and just raise the level of the armor they drop to 50 (since it took a full raid of 50s to kill them and still does) and increase the mitigation. This will make all that armor people spent 8+ months getting still useful. Bring the mitigation to the level of cobalt.2) Leave the armor the way it is but, drop the level of the mobs to 45-47, where they are killable by raids of level 40+ players, which would make the armor worth going after and appropriate for their level.To me, it's kinda useless to do these old world mobs at 50+ that's required, when they drop armor that's going to be obsolete in 5 levels that will go very fast. If you go with #2, at least the armor will last them long enough to be worth the effort it takes.If you go with #1, at least the effort people spent the last 8+ months would be more worthwhile as the mitigation would match and it would be worth the effort of guilds/players coming up the ranks, to bother with.Why bother doing old world mobs the way they are now when you have new world mobs, new armor and cobalt?EDITED: to clarify one statement that was taken out of context.<p>Message Edited by Naggybait on <span class=date_text>11-03-2005</span> <span class=time_text>06:25 PM</span>

Most of the old-world raid mobs require a full raid over 50. So far, only Drayek and Angler are really do-able at 50. I cannot see how a raid of only level 50s could take out someone like the archlich or Zalek or K'Dal or could complete SoTL.

Naggybait, how many times do people have to tell you that grey armor is not useless? And how many times do you have to post the same exact topic before you'll realize they're not upgrading the old items? <div></div>

If you have nothing to contribute, then don't post.Saying armor will be absolete in 5 levels is not saying that grey is useless. It just means that once SOE finishes itemizing DOF completely, why would anyone waste their time on the mobs that take 50+ players for armor that is obsolete by armor coming out of DOF that also can be done by level 50+ players.<p>Message Edited by Naggybait on <span class=date_text>11-03-2005</span> <span class=time_text>06:22 PM</span>
<DIV>I'm not sure what you are talking about. I may not be in the best guild for my server but we still did K'Dal, Darathar, MotM when we were all 50. It was harder but at least we dropped them. Now that we are 50+ we are farming them more with other old world encounters like Tremblar and AoW. Sure they are a lot easier but the gear thats dropping isn't all that bad. We even got a Necro master which was the first on the server from Tremblar on Sun. So, Im not sure how much that guy has been farmed. Maybe they changed the loot tables a little because I keep seeing new stuff. Why would you want raid content for anyone below 50? Its not like everyone levels together. You get a mad rush to the highest level and then do end content. I'm happy atm. I was really glad to know that the old content was availible along with the new content. Im seeing super high bids for old content items, so in at least our guild, we are still getting geared from old content. No reason to trivialize it for twinks.</DIV>

Fighters care about 1 thing with armor, mitigation. A level 40 fabled piece of armor, even if the mitigation value is the same, will not mitigate the same amount of damage that level 50 handcrafted armor will, let alone cobalt, and the stats are not high enough to make enough difference for a tank. For fighters level 40-45 fabled gear is worthless in T6.</span><div></div>

Old world mobs are now T6 levels. They should drop T6 gear. If they want them to drop t5 gear, they should be t5 mobs.
