I just wanted to say thanks for the fixes for Templars I seen on Test. Great job. There are still a few issues.

Soloing: We have too many interrupts and fizzles for all spells. Our Damage output is a joke. We still need our offensive stance.

Healing vs everything else: OK, now that healing is (arguably) equal between healers can we have healing classes equaled in DPS also. My suggestion is for soloing have an ability to either a. make a damage shield or b. give us a buff that triples the damage on our spells but quadruples the power cost of them.

Group Cure is still not working properly.

Wish you the best of luck on healer balence, but guards have been crying about the same situation and have nothing to show for it(equal tanking unbelivably unequal dps) and yes if healing is all equal they one type of healer should not be able to do 5x the dps as another but unfortinatly i doubt anything will be done about it. Honestly tho did you make a templar to do dps...

Seems now templars are in the same situation as guards, gave up all other skills to do one thing and one thing alone but now everyone can do that one thing equaly and retain al the old skill, starting to seem like balence in this game will come to beeing 24 classes that are all the same but have differnt names for there spells.

Message Edited by Bock24 on 11-02-2005 01:28 AM

I dont get it. And I'm sorry to derail from your post a bit but I need to go on a bit of a tangent...

Healing classes ARE NOT EQUAL. I dunno why SOE tries to make them. Druids are the nuking/healing hybrids. While Shamans have their debuffs and buffs. You can't have a druid who does a lot of damage and also be an equal healer to all other healing classes. I'm not saying nerf druids. I'm not saying nerf anyone. But this all train of thought that all healers are equal is driving me nuts.

I know thats a personal thing, don't get on my back about it... but if I wanted to play a certain class I want to play that class, and not something thats going to be totally changed in a few months. As a cleric only ONE of my spells does "double damage" to undead mobs. Wheres my good old smiting of undead Wheres my ability to be a battle priest? Why even call me a cleric? 'Cause I'm not a cleric. Heck, now what I am is a sitting duck. I have two direct heals that have a really bad recast, a single reactive that stops after 9 hits, and a group reactive that by the time I cast it people really start dying. If you're going to nerf my healing could you at least give me some way to give to a group in other means?

*sigh*

It would be very nice if our all our Divine Damage spells did double damage. At least make the undead fear us. And Inq's too, can't forget them.

As is all healing classes heal equally, but they sure as heck don't nuke equally.

No and they sure as heck dont heals as good compared to each other or prevend damage as good or buff hp etc as good.

balancing priests doesnt mean balance heals+dps it means buffs/utility/debuffs/armor choice too.

But noone has made an overall comparison yet well soe did I guess.

But gl on templars getting more soloabilty.

Message Edited by quetzaqotl on 11-03-2005 05:01 AM

43 Templar here - I think what people are confused about is that during LU#13 druids had their regen line of spells boosted so that they healed as much as the reactive heal line of the templars. Now, regen healing is not the same as reactive healing. However, the circumstances where that makes a difference is quite specific. Reactive heals can act as a pseudo-ward by healing a part of the damage received the moment that damage is received. Wards actually block the damage from happening in the first place. Regeneration spells heal a fixed amount of damage each tick regardless if you've been hit or not. Reactives only work when you are hit (like wards). When EQ2 first came out Templars were promoted as the kings of direct healing. Personally, I was very suprised and happy to discover that reactive heals were even better than direct heals. In fact, to this day, direct heals are my emergency fall back in combat. Reactives are pretty much all I use during a fight. So when LU#13 came out and Templars got bigger direct heals than any other class I said, "Big deal.", with a not so small hint of sarcasm. Templars do have one big advantage over other priest classes when soloing - heavy armor. It doesn't cost any power (unlike wards) to mitigate damage. With the help of my guild's armor smith I am now fully decked out in pristine ebon vanguard plate. It really makes a difference when soloing. I have a fright hex doll for its attack slow debuff (only about 10% but every bit helps and it appears to stack with the Master smite spell lines). Sure, dps output is low for a Templar. That makes for longer fights than with my Troubador or Necro. That doesn't mean I lose. The key to soloing with a Templar is 1) be patient 2) invest in the best gear you can get 3) choose your targets with care. Soloing with a Templar requires preparation and planning. Its a class for thinking people. If all you want to do is walk up and start whacking then choose another class, like Beserker. Yes, I would also like to see our DD and DOT spells boosted a bit - especially against undead. I always felt that Templars and Paladins, as holy warriors, should mow down undead like a weed whacker from hell (or heaven as the case may be). If SOE will not increase the damage then lower the power cost on the DD and DOT lines, please.

57 Warden

I took a warden as they were the end all of group healing and buffs. Now my buffs have been stripped to near useless and I actually have dps. I never wanted dps, still don't. Not much point in being able to cause damage if you can't take damage. Running around in what amounts to a leather jacket doesn't really enable me to be a fighter. Personnally I wish they had just left us alone.

Morgaine

I wish they would turn all priests into more powerfull healers, give us more ways of healing, more things to counter, strip down our dps loads so we can solo just but its not anywhere near as viable as a mage or scout etc. Make us more group orientated (its an mmo afterall) but allow us to perform far better in groups and raids and really give us a great value not just from healing.

There are no pure healers but Ill always wish i couldbe, rather have the best heals and buffs and lose all my damage spells and have basic melee as my only offense.

I chose Priest to heal I chose Cleric because I like the style and Templar because I wanted to be good.
