Well, after the patch today (and me finally knowing what the check boxes look like when selected in launchpad <img src="/smilies/3b63d1616c5dfcf29f8a7a031aaa7cad.gif" border="0" alt="SMILEY" /> ), I did a lot of looking at the models and all I have to say is, NICE. I really like the looks of the models. Elves look more like the traditional elves I grew up seeing pictures of, etc.I turned them all on and had absolutely zero issues with lag or performance. In fact, things seem to run smoother.I really like them. Wish they had these back when EQ2 launched.

<P>I do love the models, but there are some issues I have with them.</P> <P>All females have bubble butts. They just look a tad bit too big. I'm not sure about other models but barbarians have a big ole booty now that gets even bigger looking when they run.</P> <P>Although I do love the hair, I just wish there was more. The way we can blend the colors is very excellent and gives us alot of color options, but alot of the hairstyles repeat on various models which isn't a bad thing. I was just hoping for more race specific hair.</P> <P>The eyes on Erudites needs to be changed. They stand out WAY too much with the thick black outline. Also Erudite females seem to have gotten some major DD implants which SO doesn't go with them imo. They just look very wrong on an erudite. </P> <P>Dark Elf Males' lips should change with body color. If you pick a dark skintone you're stuck with these glossy bright lips. If they can't change with body color then just tone down the color some so they don't look like they're wearing lipgloss.</P> <P>I am a bit disappointed with the small amount of options we get to customize. Although I wasn't expecting much, I was expecting a bit more on certain races such as High Elf Females. The male HE get alot of options and the females get barely any.</P> <P>Really other than what I've listed... I really do like the SOGA models.</P> <P>The females are all pretty and the males actually look decent. </P> <P>I don't understand the arguements made by some that now all guys look like 17yr olds. Yeah.. so? Least they don't look like they're mentally or physically ill any longer. And really... who even used that age slider to make their char look older anyway.</P><p>Message Edited by PallatonEQ on <span class=date_text>10-28-2005</span> <span class=time_text>09:55 AM</span>

<span><blockquote><hr>PallatonEQ wrote:<div></div><p>The females are all pretty and the males actually look decent. </p><hr></blockquote> I have to agree. I may reroll an elf or a human. With this art style, I could play as a male human and the female models are actually really pretty. I can't wait to see them in the real game instead of on the test server.  I say if they are not crashing the game then let us have them on the live servers. There is nothing really wrong with them as is aside from a few tweeks. Yirkie</span><div></div>

<DIV>I find that the limbs on the females to be extremely jarring. I know it's supposed to be "anime".. but look at Madam Vi at the crossroads casting... when she leans forward, you can see her limbs don't joint properly, the shin bone is arcing the wrong direction, and the limbs look like tubes, not limbs.</DIV> <DIV>Then there's problems with shoulders not lining up right.. disproportionate butts and [Removed for Content].</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>I've seen anime. This isn't anime. This is something I'd expect to see on deviant art... not from a professional company charging money for this.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>The hair.. the faces.. the skin, etc.. aside from a small lack of choice, is well done. It's how they fit everything together. It's almost like they assigned folks to each make some specific body part, without letting them communicate with each other. And then some other guy just slapped em all together in vaguely anatomically correct positions.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Overall, they look "nice"... but have some very jarring issues. Definately get the leg guys to redo those things... even anime chicks have thighs, not tubes.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>*Edit*</DIV> <DIV>Just to be clear.. I don't expect SOE to do anything about this, as it's not their stuff to change. If the message can be passed on, that'd be good... maybe it's a bug that they are being displayed this way (yeah, right).</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Are these the final models to be used? Is SOGA finished? Doesn't seem to have that professional finishing touch that the western version models have.</DIV><p>Message Edited by Raidi Sovin'faile on <span class=date_text>10-29-2005</span> <span class=time_text>06:09 AM</span>

<DIV>My feedback.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>I think the models themselves generally look out of place with the settings and backgrounds (not all but most).</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>My first impressions were that the hair looked really nice, but after examining and looking from different angles its got that 2 dimensional feel to it in lots of places so ive decided most of the flashy looky cuts arent actually so nice, just from a face only frontal shot.</DIV> <DIV>The bodies on them look all mishapen, limbs tend to look to long and in most cases the legs look to skinny and scrawny, specially on races with large chests, makes them look very weird when u view the entire model not just the upper torso and head.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>The races themselves dont seem to fit the standard general view of them, such as dwarves and halflings being stout with the dwarves more barrel chested. They actually look really scrawny with the dwarves looking like old midgets and the halflings 10-12yr old children. Ogres are like weirdly coloured Klingons (cranial ridges)with long arms and spindly legs which bow out and look like they are constipated. Erudites are alien beings with huge heads, tight shrunken skin and huge butts.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>The best looking race is probably the humans, there overall size and shape doesnt appear deformed and seems well balanced, the faces look an improvement on western models mainly because of the hair and especially the eyebrows which are dreadful and overly bushy.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>For the animation i think most of the SOGA models move very badly like splitting the motions up into a 2-3 stages and capturing them on a poseable doll. Females especially have a nasty arm position standing with them at 90deg bent elbows ready to do the locomotion.  There are some nasty armour tears and clipping issues with most models ive seen which presumably will be fixed.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Well thats my feedback, most of it it just my opinions of there visual look and suitability for the fantasy world of norrath which dont really matter excpet just for discussion value people can choose to use or not use them anyway - I will be choosing not to use any of them except perhaps the humans with suitable haircuts since i feel they are the main playable race that looks 'incorrect' with western style models. </DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV><U>Important feedback issues : The animations appear to be a bit buggy and need some work to stop the clipping and tearing for the people that choose to use these.</U> </DIV>

Actually, the models do fit the STANDARD general view. They are closer to traditional looks than the US EQ2 models. Traditional JRR Tolkien halflings look like children.Besides, some of these models are based on traditional Japanese/Asian classic looks. That's why they were created for and released for the asian market. Some of the models follow closer to other more traditional looks, even the accepted looks of classic writers like Tolkien. The whole thing here is, they are OPTIONAL. If people don't like them, they can turn them off.<p>Message Edited by Naggybait on <span class=date_text>10-29-2005</span> <span class=time_text>10:20 PM</span>

- There needs to be more hair selection for females, and specifically : less butch, and more feminine hair choices. (a.k.a. "where did my pigtails go?") No offense to anybody with that - it's just the old models have a wide variety of selections, and the SOGA models seem to follow 3 main models: 1. pageboy variants; 2. punk/short variants; 3. grunge variants. <img src="/smilies/9d71f0541cff0a302a0309c5079e8dee.gif" border="0" alt="SMILEY" />  It seems like the new hairstyles are trying to fit the different races into specific images instead of allowing player flexibility - ie. barbarian female - tough and strong; wood elf - sporty and cute; dark elf - mink or punkish; half elf - tomboy, etc. - Why are half elves having their face jewelry replaced with <b><i>scars</i></b>????? (and unattractive ones at that, not even cool ones). /cry ... Please please<i> please</i> - give us our face jewelry, that's one of the reasons I choose half elf for my character. (Actually it'd be really cool if half elves could have wood elf-style painted shrouds AND face jewelry, but I'll happily settle for face metal over scars.) - Can you please possibly add some more hair colors in since you're doing changes anyway? <img src="/smilies/3b63d1616c5dfcf29f8a7a031aaa7cad.gif" border="0" alt="SMILEY" />  Fine-tuning on the current color palette can really only be noticed on totally high-end systems, and since we lack the capacity to change our armor color, it would give us the biggest boost in character individualism. Let's get some blue, pink, green, purple in there. <img src="/smilies/8a80c6485cd926be453217d59a84a888.gif" border="0" alt="SMILEY" /> Mille grazie... kiitos... danke...gracias... <div></div>
