Or do we all lose the 3p+ we've spent on getting a cobalt one?

(I'm a defiler, I have great spear skill but not great axe, I find it a bit unfair that I will lose the many hours i've invested in getting that cobalt halbert, i very much hope that SOE will think ahead of this and at least allow those like me to trade our weapons for spears).

a.

edit: if this is the wrong forum, please excuse me as I did not know where to best post this.

Message Edited by arieste on 10-27-2005 06:59 PM

No, Sony never unattunes or reimburses you in any way for item/spell changes.

That was a bug, not an intentional change. I lost my master invis because of the invis change, but I will never get reimbursement for that, so in this situation, I am correct.

But like you said, never say never. It is highly unlikely that anyone will get a free replacement for an attuned halberd, but stranger things have happened, somewhere at some point in history. Like when it rains fish.

If I remember correctly, there was one major update after which all equipment became unattuned. I'm sure it is possible for Sony to do the same for all halberds. After all it is only a single type of weapon that is being changed.

And sony has often made rare and expensive items that players may have acquired and somehow lost available to people. (i.e. heritage quest items and carpet).

I don't believe that soe is completely blind to how hard it is to get something like a rare t6 halberd.

After it's giving anything free to the players... even IF halberd are unattuned, we still have to find someone to trade it to for a spear or to sell, and we are still left without a weapon to use. But it's better than losing the massive investment made in getting the item in the first place.

anyhow... I'm just somewhat upset and disturbed by this development...I mean what's next? i wake up tomorrow and can't use my prismatic all of a sudden? just because I chose a mace and not a staff or vice versa...

The closest comparison you can make is to when Rogue subclasses lost the ability to use Bows after the combat revamp.. many people had attuned fabled & legendary bows they could no longer equip, and they were not un-attuned or reimbursed in any way, so you can expect the same treatment.

TheyLive, that is not accurate. Rogues can still use bows, but NOT for the ranged combat arts. My swash still uses Stormfire for the higher damage/pulling ability.

Wich classes are halberds being taken away from?

I don't see why they would unattune them for you. They didn't unattune my bows when they did away with my combat arts for bows and switched me to throwing weapons. Yes, it is the same thing. Sure, we can still use them but what's the point when our combat arts can't use them? You know how many hours and raid points I spent getting my fabled bow? It took a LOT more hours than having someone craft a halbert for you. They don't make it a habit of doing this. If they unattuned them, it would unattune them for everyone and then you would end up with a flood of them on the market for sale.Maybe they could unattune them for you after making them no trade.
Message Edited by Naggybait on 10-29-2005 10:06 AM

to answer which class it's being taken away is any class that can use Great Spear which Halberd is currently, but not Great Axe which it will become... defilers and mystics for sure, not sure if any others. a.
