I have never seen any logical or gameplay reason that pets must be dismissed then resummoned to ride the Griffs or Carpets. It is not as if I want you to display the pet on the mount, just make it appear at the destination when I land. Is it so outrageous to believe that a conjuror coulld make his pet ethereal to travel with him (assuming there is some "gameplay logic" at work in forcing us to dismiss and resummon)?? If it is an attempt to put the pet class caster at "risk" for using the mounts, well.... maybe they should land in a less safe location?? I have never been attacked by anything at a mount post except for the brief time one of the Haze Kodiaks was off his assigned path at the Steppes station, so I have to assume that's not the reason. If there is some gameplay reason I'd like to know what it is, and even if there is some technical reason, I'd still like to know and like to request that it be worked on ASAP.:smileysad:

I have in fact been attacked by a creature upon arrival at a carpet point in Pillar of Flames. I landed and a harpy attacked. Fortunately, I was able to use the stoneskin and summon the minion. It was very close because the stoneskin only absorbed a very little bit of the damage. So, I was close to dead by the time the pet poofed into existence. I have since invisibled myself before flying. I know that there are many things that see through invisible but I figure it reduces the risk some. So, I agree with you completely. No other class has to loose their combat ability when they use the griffon or carpets except summoners. This is an issue that should eventually be addressed.

Good point and this is very annoying. Chalk up another yes please to the list.

Make them poof, and re-appear on landing.

Mounts still don't suspend while riding carpets or birds so why should pets? I am a necromancer and yes I understand your point, but you are comparing apples to oranges. Pets do not dissapear when going thru water but horses used to. Now they don't.
Message Edited by xxArcanexx on 10-19-2005 09:58 PM
