View Full Version : Will respec be FORCED?

This is the best place I could find for this question. Everybody is getting respec with the release of DoF. Everybody I know wants to save it untill the dust settles down and we can see what happened to our classes, so we can make informed decisions. Looking at the wild swings with the changes now, less than a couple of weeks before the release, I can predict that not-so-subtle changes will be happening after DoF goes out. Even beta testers will not quite know everything they need to know before they respec, let alone most of us on live. If the respec is going to be FORCED at a log in, which I think is very likely, a lot of people will be unhappy. There is a solution in such case - offer a second respec that can be used any time later. This will eliminate a lot of frustration in your player (customer) base. <div></div>

I'm going to say yes respecs are forced because the training spells that you picked before no longer exist. and yes i do agree with you most people won't know what abilities they want upgraged to master one, so it would be nice to be offered maybe 2 respecs. so you can mess one up :-p <div></div>

<DIV>The answer is : Yes. You will have to make a /respec when these changes go live. The traditions, like we know them in the Live servers, disappear. You will have to /respec to get the new ones ( Master II versions of our spells).</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>And well, there shouldn't be a problem with these new ones, because you know what the spell do and you can examine it to see how much it upgrade but it's posible a re-respec will happend.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV> </DIV>

Perhaps just the choices of new training spells will be forced upon login, while everyone will have a /respec for all choices at their discretion. Either way, I agree the original poster has a valid concern, I would not want to be forced to use my only full /respec on day 1 post-revamp.

Cruzado, Even if you will be able to see the detailed spell description, which is not a given knowing how things are done in EQ2, how confident can you be about the way that spell works in game. The whole content has changed, only beta testers have some feel about it. And I will repeat myself - things will change again more than likely, because we are getting a crude product with BoF and combat revamp. We already had two HUGE changes to the training spell system in a very short time. Some of the spells that have the same names have nothing in common with the spells we got used to. Stil don't see a problem? <div></div>

<DIV>The new trainings will be Master II upgrades of your current spells (an option of 1 of 4), no 'new' spells.</DIV>

Niteflyx - Not true. As an Illusionist, one of my "current" spells is changed so completely, you might as well call it a new spell. It used to be a tiny damage 5% melee proc, now it is a reasonable damage 20% spell proc with conc slot cost.  And yes, it is one of the options as a training spells as of now. Many other spells on the list have undergone critical changes as well. But you are completely, completely, completely missing the point. Even if the spells wouldn't have changed at all, everything else has changed. We are getting a new game, with new rules, new classes, new encounters etc. And (let me repeat myself yet again) it WILL change after release to fix many holes that WILL be there. <div></div>

<DIV>Since they've fixed it where you can get quest reward even with the green + up.. I don't see the problem if they force it. That just means you will have a green + in the corner while you test out your spells and abilities for a week.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Unless they screwed up and broke the + again... they didn't, did they? (I always choose mine before I continue anyways).</DIV> <DIV> </DIV>

You only get the spells and description, not very detailed, as you would know if you played on test and got to level 14 24 34 44 recently <img src="/smilies/69934afc394145350659cd7add244ca9.gif" border="0" alt="SMILEY" />  (no offense if you are on test but havn't got to one of those levels since change)

<P>What I was trying to say it's that you really know what that spell does. It's not like with the old ones that the description says "combat proc" but doesn't say that it was a buff with a very long recast. I don't see the need for a re-respec because this new options are based on spells <U>that you are using</U>. It's like that when you have and App or Adept I and get a gem. You can make an Adept III and you based your decision in your knowledge of your spells. Here is the same, but instead of an Adept III you get a Master II.</P> <P>My posts aren't again a re-respec, it's just that I don't see it something that we will need. I think it's worst with the actual Adept IIIs and Master Is that you can own in the life servers. Some of this skills are absolutely differents in the CC and they said that there won't be a spells respec, for example.</P> <P> </P> <P><BR> </P> <BLOCKQUOTE> <HR> Nebbeny wrote:<BR>You only get the spells and description, not very detailed, as you would know if you played on test and got to level 14 24 34 44 recently <img src="/smilies/69934afc394145350659cd7add244ca9.gif" border="0" alt="SMILEY" />  (no offense if you are on test but havn't got to one of those levels since change) <BR> <HR> </BLOCKQUOTE> <P>No offense :smileyhappy: . I have rerolled a lot my chars there and meanwhile a pair of them are around level 20 I haven't play with them lately. Just ignore the green + until you want to choose?
