I have tried to weed through and figure out some things and all I can see is that you are still heavily testing things and that is great. If in 16 days it still is not ready are you going to push it out anyway?

One of the big things I see is that a lot of priest spells still need revamping (I am not saying this by the way someone that is on Test is saying this) This goes the same for many other aspects that seem to be out in the open colum. So if there is still stuff to be changed and yet you are still making changes to things like locked encounters, rare harvest, and any number of other things I never heard were broke to begin with, are you really going to be ready in 16 days?

If I remember correctly, a while back that one of the devs posted that they would not push out the combat changes until they were ready (and I assumed finished) Is this still going to be the policy or are you just going to let it go out no matter what.

The reason I ask is currently I like the game. There are things that need fixing I agree, but the game is fun and I hear little to no complaints from my guild members. You are changing a lot of stuff here and you said you would not push them out until they were ready and finished. If this is still what you are going to do then I continue to support you and stand by and hope for the best. If your are just going to push them out and change a bunch of stuff that still needs fixing once it goes live please do not bother. I do not want to play a broken game, by your own admission I have been doing that already since release. I say this because why else would you revamp the entire game and the way it is played from the ground up. Every little detail seems to be changed about the game. Locked encounters, Rare harvest, Combat in general, spells in general, Everything seems to be broke about this game as it stands on live right now.

Please if you are creating Everquest 3 Desert of Flames then do so. I am still going to be here once you finally get it all the way it was "intended" to be. But if you push out the game and after all this time and you come back and tell us it is broke again I do not know how I can stay. How could anyone stay if the way we played for almost a year was not the way the game was meant to be played. Then you come back after "fixing" everything and say "Ok, well we pushed it out but this, this, this, and oh this is still broke." Changes and fixes are to be expected I understand you can not get it right the first time. But here is the second attempt, and you have all the time in the world. We are not going anywhere, take your time, get it right, give us the game you always wanted us to play and make our jaws drop in wonder of how we ever played it any other way. Just don’t leave it broke ( or maybe broke is the wrong word....unfinished?) and push it out for the sake of pushing it out.

This is not a complaint or me crying nerf, just a plea to get it right and not push it out to please the lowest common denominator.(oh wait maybe that is me:manindifferent: )

I continue to wait to play, the way it was mean to be played.

Loyal fan

P.S. I posted this once with a semi joke about it being deleted....did not expect it to actually happen....One more try if this one disapears then I guess I was right.

Message Edited by cadrach on 08-25-2005 09:45 PM

Message Edited by cadrach on 08-25-2005 09:46 PM

If i understood well, DoF needs the revamp to be launched. Do you really hope they will postpon it even for a all minute if it would cost them even a copper? No, they won't. We're now in the 'like it or leave it' era. Even tetanized by fear as they should be (i would be) they will go on with the classic SOE policy regarding forum : 'give them a forum so they can cry all they want freely and then, throw the key in a galaxy far, far away'. Hey Sony, the combat revamp, 'Do it or don't do it, there's NO try', said the green gnome.

The peeps at SoE have never deviated from a path once they've started on it. They just can't justify to themselves having wasted all that programmer time, even if it is given terrible reviews and everyone hates it.

And the 2nd law of SoE is .. if it's late and not complete.. push it out anyway.

mioss wrote:If i understood well, DoF needs the revamp to be launched.

Well. It's not that the content in DoF wouldn't work either way. It's that they planned to let both loose in the world at roughly the same time, so the combat changes were active on the Beta server before anywhere else, even Test. So all the mobs -- solo, heroic, raid -- in DoF have been tuned and tweaked based upon the way combat changes affect players. So the content *could* run the way things currently stand on Live, but mobs would be all over the place with respect to player abilities and gear.

In short, we aren't done yet. Even when Live Update #13 is released, its not as if we won't make adjustments later.

As for concerns that we're running out of time and are still making major changes to balance, don't worry. One of the things our coders have been doing is replacing complex underlying systems and formulas with simpler systems that can be adjusted more easily. Changing the factors that affect combat is much easier now than when this all started. What seems like a huge change can really just be the tweaking of a few numbers.

Guess my plea is going to be ignored. What a shame. Instead of taking your time and doing it right you will rush it out for the sake of profit? Instead of making a working game you figure to go ahead and get it out there so that we can play a broke game for another year? Because of the fact that you are reworking everything and completly changing the playstyle you are already telling us that we have done this for the last year. (I actually think the game is great how it is minus a few bugs) If is not for the sake of profit then why? We really do not want it if it is broke, trust me.

If you would just take your time here guys and push out a great product even if it takes another month I think you will hear less complaints than if you push out yet another product that is broke. Oh, and yes pushing out a product that will need to have adjustments made later, is the same as pushing it out broke. I am not saying it has to be flawless just working. Correct me if I am wrong but now you only have 4 maybe 5 days and yet again there has been a MAJOR change to the combat system that is admitidly not working as intended.

This is not a flame just a plea, dont push it out just to satisfy some bottom line. Because from this players point of view that is all you will be doing.

You are clueless. They're not charging for the revamp, so they're not pushing anything out to make a profit. DoF itself is fine. The revamp is what they will still be adjusting. EVERYONE gets the revamp, expansion purchase or not. There is no profit in it at all.

Wow resorting to name calling...*Sigh* Well that is your opinion but let me expound on just how clueless I am. What you may not realize is that the two are one and the same. DoF has been made with the combat changes code in place all along. Now call me crazy but the two MUST coincide or DoF is going to be all messed up for the way the servers are currently working.

From what I can see they have pretty much re-writen the entire game here, and I would be supprised (though I will NOT say is out of the question) that DoF is incompatible with our current rule set competly. It would be a disaster not to push them out simultaneously because nothing would work right. The current mobs would need to be completly overhauled to take into account current rule sets instead of LU13 rulesets. This would result is double if not triple the work.

So, If they must coincide with each other then the revamp, which everyone gets regardless as you pointed out, will be pushed out regardless of if it is ready or not. So that leads us back to my original two posts which I will not reiterate.

If you take this into account you sir are mistaken, not I. Thanks for the post though.

Message Edited by cadrach on 09-08-2005 07:59 AM
