View Full Version : Copy- Export?
<DIV>Im finally on Test to help out, but I am curious. Is there a way to copy or import our characters from Live to the Test servers like CoH does? Seems like we would be better able to give you the feedback and datamining you need. We could play in the Live Server say in SH get all the info nice and fresh then copy over to Test and head to SH and test the changes over on Test while the play experience from Live is still fresh in the mind.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>So far though (Starting on IoR):</DIV> <DIV>L1 - 5, Warrior</DIV> <DIV>Problems:</DIV> <DIV>Animations are not in sync with attacks.</DIV> <DIV>(Damage is being dealt before the animation finishes usually right in the middle-Used Wild Swing)</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Concerns:</DIV> <DIV>Double up Heroics near the Chieftain tree (Test purposes or going into Live?)</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Compliments:</DIV> <DIV>Really like the new Personal Sheet views.</DIV> <DIV>Like the new Icon for Intervene (Only one Ive experienced so far).</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Seems to be a problem with HOs, I will get more info as I test it more. Maybe something to do with animations being out of sync.</DIV>

From the FAQ that is stickied in this forum <span><blockquote><hr> <div> </div><strong><font color="#ffff99">Can I have my existing characters copied over for play on Test?</font></strong>No. Characters on the Test server will be starting fresh. However, there may be times when the dev team copies over characters from the standard servers to help test specific features.<hr></blockquote><a href="http://eqiiforums.station.sony.com/eq2/board/message?board.id=testfeed&message.id=23120" target=_blank>FAQ</a></span> <div></div>

<P>They should really stop calling it the test server. The people who play on it full time treat it like a live server (It's their home). They don't want people comming in and out with their copied level 50 characters when they worked hard to level their alt from the beginning. Test server is in fact a LIVE server with a population of players that are willing to get early releases of enhancements/fixes and deal with the bugs while they play. Ideally they are more aggresive about reporting bugs but I'm sure there is a % of players that just like getting the early content release / or like playing with a specific group of players as well. Let's call it the Staging server perhaps... So if your going to post about copying your Alt to Test then keep this in mind. SOE has a tradition with their test server that is unique so don't try to compare it with other games. </P> <P> </P>

Its a test server and as the name suggests. There are to many bugs and exploits getting to the live servers, so if they want to start a real test server and allow people to copy over thier characters I for one would be willing to spend a few hours a week testing updates out instead of trying to level my chraracter and play the game like it was a live server.

<P>With all that being said; 1. if I played on any live server, I could pay SoE to transfer my character to another live server. </P> <P> 2. SoE wants testers to test their changes</P> <P> </P> <P>Many people would like to play on test, and aren't willing to leave everything behind. I beleive that community on test is very important, and that copying characters will destroy that sense of community. There are many peopl on test who are established that left alot behind, and now that the beautifull new load page is up, we see every single time we load up, EVERYTHING that we were forced to abandon to come help out on test. Cmon guys, throw us a bone, give us a movelog, or get rid of that page on the loadup screen. I am not going back to Oasis.</P> <P>Minnah Mousze of Test</P> <P>Tempestaria Furypaws of Oasis</P> <P>Wyndari Spiritkeeper of Oasis</P> <P> </P> <P> </P>
