Well, if it really was just a problem in how the level was displayed, there is no math involved.

How was it just a display problem? Guilds that were level 29 continued to gain guild exp, and then suddenly were 30. If they were truly already 30 and the display was showing 29, shouldnt the exp bar have stopped when they reached 29?

Im just trying to understand this a little more.

There isn't much understanding to do here, there was no bug, there is no math. This is one of Sony's methods of covering up a coneptual mistake by designating it a "bug." Sony realizes that obtaining guild level 30 was much too difficult for the rewards that it provided. If you haven't noticed, they've been trying to make it much easier for guilds to attain levels because when they raise the guild level cap, how many guilds would have been actually ready to continue? They did this once with mining. They claimed that there was a "bug" with mining rare harvestable goods so they claimed that fixing the bug doubled the chances of finding a rare mineral/ore. There was no bug there either. What had happened was Sony did not take into account that Ebon would be just as rare as a cedar, but would be in such greater demand because so many classes need to use ebon. Likewise, rubies are used by EVERY class to make Adept3 combart arts and spells.
