<DIV> I had posted this as a reply on an earlier, longer thread, but it seems the best way to get it viewed is to start a new post. I would not have put this here, except I think it has some merit. I'm not adept at explaining, so if someone else who understands this has a better way of explaining, PLEASE feel free. This is FAR different from all other suggestions to this point. NOTE: I am using the number instead of 12 merely for simplicity. The practical system would more likely use 10, 12, or 15 for each level. It is late - I hope I explain this well. Percents are also arbitrary, I am sure there are numbers which would work much better. The IDEA... Patron flags are gone, and every guild member has the opportunity to contribute in tiers of effectiveness based solely on contribution. Tier A: Top 5 patrons Calculated contribution is set to 100% of contribution. Tier B: Patrons 6-10 Calculated contribution is set to 40% of contribution. Tier C: Patrons 11-15 Calculated contribution is set to 15% of contribution. Tier D: Patrons 16+ Calculated contribution is set to 5% of contribution. EXAMPLE Guild has 17 members total, status points from all sources as follows: Tier A: 1 has 200,000 status points. 2 has 180,000 status points. 3 – 150,000 4 – 150,000 5 – 120,000 Tier B: 6 – 115,000 7 – 110,000 8 – 110,000 9 – 100,000 10 – 85,000 Tier C: 11 – 83,000 12 – 80,000 13 – 70,000 14 – 50,000 15 – 15,000 Tier D: 16 – 5,000 17 – 0 Now, the actual calculated status would be as follows: Tier A: 1 – 200,000 * 100% = 200,000 2 – 180,000 * 100% = 180,000 3 – 150,000 * 100% = 150,000 4 – 150,000 * 100% = 150,000 5 – 120,000 * 100% = 120,000 Tier B: 6 – 115,000 * 40% = 46,000 7 – 110,000 * 40% = 44,000 8 – 110,000 * 40% = 44,000 9 – 100,000 * 40% = 40,000 10 – 85,000 * 40% = 34,000 Tier C: 11 – 83,000 * 15% = 12,450 12 – 80,000 * 15% = 12,000 13 – 70,000 * 15% = 10,500 14 – 50,000 * 15% = 7,500 15 – 15,000 * 15% = 2,250 Tier D: 16 – 5,000 * 5% = 250 17 – 0 * 5% = 0 Let’s say patron 6 finishes two heritage quests in one evening, and goes from 115,000 – 125,000 status, but patron 5 has been offline for a couple weeks. 6 would move into the #5 spot, and 5 would move into the #6 spot. Although 6 had only 46,000 sp COUNTED towards the guild level, he actually had 115,000 CONTRIBUTED. Once he moves into Tier A, his amount is counted at 100%, and Patron 5’s calculated amount reduces t0 40%. He keeps his same numbers though, the game is coded to update based on tiers and percents. Maybe 5 was once the top, but has been offline for months. Slowly others pass him, and he moves down the list. Keeping his points don’t hinder leveling, and when/if he comes back, he can start where he left off. Number 17 starts off very small, but as he moves up tiers, his contributions become worth more. He gains SP the exact same way, in the exact same amounts as everyone else, so with some grit and bleeding eyes, he can one day become the top contributor if he sets his mind to it. If a patron leaves, there are a couple options: 1) His status remains, and his total slowly gets bumped down the list and others pass it. 2) His status is lost, but others move up the list immediately and overall guild xp loss is negligible. 3) A portion of his status reverts to an invisible pool of status, never to be lost. Personally, I like number 2. It makes losing a patron painful, but not excruciating. A massive guild WILL gain faster, but not at exponential levels. I’m in a guild with few members, and I’m ok with that. Healthy in-guild competition is encouraged, and EVERYONE has a chance to get to the top. The inactive patron can always come back in an move up if they want. Plus, since the GSP divisor is not a factor in this model, there is no penalty for having this 'inactive' patron. There is actually a small bonus, 5% of their status. This allows smaller guilds to move up almost as fast as larger guilds, but gives larger guilds a slight bonus which makes sense.There are some things to think about though. First, is there a point where status is not counted at all? Say, only the top 50 are counted (of course if someone from the top tier leaves, everyone else moves up) Either way, this actually adds a competitive (and hopefully in a friendly way) element to guild status contribution. Everyone has a chance to contribute, and has incentive to be in the top 12, 50, 100, or whatever numbers make sense.I like it.<div></div>

It's not a large amount, but its not wasted, and once the person comes back, they can pick up exactly where they left off. As fas as a cut-off, as long as the tiers reduce xp enough, it would be very hard to a masive guild to have TOO much of an advantage. If the last tier was 5%, each tier has 12 people, numbers 37 and up would be at 5%. If a guild had 137 members, those 100 would actually count as 5 people. A massive guild of 500 would only have a small advantage over a smaller one of 50.
