<DIV>I thought about all the negative aspects that could come about with the proposed change to preserving guild XP if a patron leaves a guild or is unpatroned.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>After mulling over the points, I came to the conclusion of "Who cares?"  If they cap guilds at level 30, who cares how the guilds get there?</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Does it really have a negative impact on me and my guild?  No.  How would it?  Will my guild not have the same opportunity over time to get to level 30?  Under the current system, maybe.  That's if my friends can weather the morale blow done by a person leaving the guild with a bunch of status.  Under the proposed system, at least we won't lose any XP.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Do I really care that a guild of 300 people rotates out their patrons for status and heritage quest to advance their guild in a few weeks?  No.  And where was the fun in that?  What a waste of your monthly charge for playing the game.  But really, it has no impact on my guild soldiering ahead to play the game our own way.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Will I support or condone a policy of patroning and unpatroning people to do heritage quests in the guild that I co-lead?  No.  I'm not going give up my guild status ranking in my guild, and I doubt most other people who actually play the game will either.  But again, what do I really care what other people or guilds do?  I concentrate on my guild and my friends.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>I'm actually looking for this to be another constructive thread about the topic, more from the standpoint of how the proposed guild XP change will really hurt the game.  I've shared the same concerns posted in the other couple of threads, but my own opinion finally came down to jealousy not being a viable reason for stopping or altering the proposed change.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Just my $.02 silver.</DIV>

<DIV>Many folks (including SOE) see the guild levels as a healthy competition between guilds, the so-called Indirect Player-vs-Player (iPVP) aspect. Before this proposed change, guilds had to be stable with their patronage to get to level 30, which many people attributed to good leadership. With this new system, however, guild level is not based upon hard work by a select few in the guild, but on "working the system" by strategically swapping patrons in and out...so the rules of this "competition" are totally switched around. I suppose that's why so many folks are against it...they like the old system.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Personally, I just see that more and more guilds will actually get to level 30 sooner now...is that bad? Only in that it means a level 30 guild is not such a big deal any more...it won't be so unique or special any more. What then will the "top" guilds have to flaunt their "greatness"?</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Errokk</DIV>

<P>I guess my only compaint about this change (and I've already /petitioned and done some /feedback in game), is that if this change was implemented last month my guild would still be level 19 instead of level 15.</P> <P>In the past my guild has had it's share of good and bad times. I'm used to it. A group of people want to see greener pastures, so they bail, and I support them. Unfortunatly this time my guild lost 4 levels (Wasn't really an issue in EverQuest 1). So I want to know when the change goes in, will I return to my previous level, or am I just going to have to wait until I can get several new members with which to patronize?</P> <P>/poke Dev</P> <P> </P>

Heres my take on it. As a member of a level 26 guild who has busted butt on writs, I don't like this change because it is going to trivialize one of the only remaining challenges left in the game for our guild. We're all level 50, we've beaten most of the instances, we have prismatics... until the expansion comes out there isn't all that much left to do except re-do raids for loot. No guild on our server is level 30 yet. I don't expect us to be the first to 30, but working at being one of the select few that has put in the time and effort to attain that ranking is the only thing that makes it worthwhile in my eyes. Lets face it, the benefits of being level 30 arn't all that amazing, it's more of a status thing. Some casual players don't understand that or think its not fair for us to ask for something to be hard so only the really dedicated can attain it. But this game isn't going to hold any appeal to hard-core players if its a cake walk to experience all of the content, and theres already plenty of content for people who don't play much to keep busy with. Will we swap patrons and hustle to 30 if this change goes through? I don't know... we might as well since there will be no glory or particular sense of satisfaction in attaing 30 when tons of other people are already there. If that sounds concieted, it's really not meant to be... -Myrid <div></div>
