View Full Version : Does the change to fuels for the cross-crafting skills only apply to NON-advanced recipes?

- The recipes for creating primary interim components using Apothecary, Geomancy, Timbercraft, and Weaving which required 10 fuels now require 2. If this applies to advanced cross-crafting, then all rare crafting will need to be done cross-wise because it will become cheaper to do rare crafting NOT with the specific class designed for crafting that item. Example: Alchemy rare ink (advanced books) - 2 fuels for the refine reagent, 5 fuels for both the interim dye and the interim ink = 12 fuels total. current Apothocary rare ink (advanced books) - 2 fuels for the refine reagent, 10 fuels for both the interim dye and interim ink = 22 fuels total. new Apothocary rare ink? (advanced books) - 2 fuels for each the refine reagent, interim dye, and interim ink = 6 fuels total (half of the Alchemy way) This will affect other tradeskills than Alchemy, but not as sharply for the rest. If the change affects the advanced books, for -all- interim RARE combines, it will be more economical to use the cross-crafting skill instead of the primary skill. Making a legendary sword, to make the interim edge it would be 3 fewer fuel. Making a legendary piece of armor, to make the interim rings or plate would be 3 fewer fuel. Making a legendary shield, to make the interim lumber would be 3 fewer fuel. And so on. This could be a ploy to make the other advanced books have -any- value. Currently the only advanced cross crafting book that has value is the apothocary ones because INK is the only rare that is used by any class other than the one which has the ability to make the interims which its own skill. With this change, though, the advanced cross-crafting books would be virtually required (to make the products more economically) in addition to the advanced specialty books in order to make any legendary (or imbued) items. So..... does the change only applie to NON-advanced recipes? (I do not have a character high enough in skill or money to test this or I would... since I am getting my DSL, post move, turned on today)

I think it's a mistake, and that they will change it to 5. Although, what's the point? Just like a normal cross-class interim costs 2x fuel of the in-class version, currently a cross-class rare costs 2x of the in-class version. It's consistent. Not sure what the motivation is. Even if it is intended to make it cheaper to use the cross-class method, you're talking about 27S cheaper at tier 5. 27S cheaper to make say, an ebon weapon. If you're ordering/making an ebon weapon, my guess is that 27S means absolutely nothing to you. Samies with the 6-7S savings at tier 4. Or the 1.5S savings at tier 3. And so on.

I have rare primary combines that are cross-class though. In order to make some of the monk weapons I need a strap as the primary. Have to have the appropriate Advanced Weaving book for that. Not a huge part of my business, but it's there. Enough so that the gold spent on each of said books has been covered at least.

Yeah, I was just thinking... WOW it's going to get expensive to make posion vials and glass bottles as an Alchy. 10 fules for 3 bottles?
