As far as I can tell, its pretty much a tradeoff. On one hand you get a higher level sneak and reactive spells that help you escape and on the other hand you can move faster. Perhaps there will be changes in the revamp, but IMO, it doesn't seem like the single target is useless, just not ideal for all situations. Basically, you got choices rather than having everything in one package.

Well the thing is generally when anyone puts up invis, they do so knowing that the mobs won't see through it. So sure if you actually get attacked while invis (which I never have) it might be handy. But that 41% speed reduction is just nasty, sneak doesn't have enough benefits of any kind to make up for a penalty that huge. <div></div>

But that 41% speed reduction is just nasty, sneak doesn't have enough benefits of any kind to make up for a penalty that huge.<BR> <BR> <HR> </BLOCKQUOTE> <P><BR>Well either my stealth skill has completely gone borked, or they've changed mobs in LS and EF in particular -- even though I'm invisible through mobs up to and including level 49, there are assorted level 42 and 43 (I'm 44) Sootfoot gatherers -- roughly one in a dozen -- that aggro me.  Similarly in other places (but since I've been catching up wretchedly old quests and crafting for the last few days, I forget which).  They weren't always that way; the first time I scouted out LAvastorm by myself at 42 my stealth was just fine until I started wandering where the level 48 critters could see me.</P> <P>As an assassin, I have two active stealth skills: one which grants me basically an extra 30 seconds of Sprint on detection, but which reduces my movement by 50%, and one which I chose as my level 40 skill upgrade, which only reduces my movement by 16%.  Assassins don't get group stealth, so I can't speak as to having actual utility, but I'll agree that stealth skills as they stand across the classes I've directly experienced (which are, er, everything except troub and swashie) have very weird logic and on the whole make no sense.  My particular trouble is with in-combat stealth and a bevy of attacks that only work from stealth, but that's another issue.</P>
