Alright, a lot of other folks have already complained about this so I guess I will be brief. It took a huge time investment for me, and I am sure either a substantial investment of time and/or money for many other folks. How can you, in good conscience, make such a significant change to the robe of the invoker, retroactively and with no recourse for those who already have attuned it after making this investment? I can understand if it was making certain encounters too easy when combined with other regen items, but that still does not warrant a retroactive change? There is no harm in only future versions in the robe having the stat reduction is there? Sure there would be some folks out there with it in its original form, but it would prevent further imbalance at least. I guess what I am getting is that I can understand why it was changed, but I think this reduction was way more than what was called for. It is just really discouraging, especially since my class was already severely nerfed, and is facing a dps downgrade in an upcoming patch, to have one of my most prized items reduced to approximately 33 percent of its original quality. I know it’s only the mana regen, but that’s what made the robe worth getting. I just hope someone considers what I have said, and that future changes of this nature will be more sensitive to both the raiding and casual players out there.

Message Edited by WhiteLight on 06-28-2005 09:57 AM

So you know its imbalanced and you understand the need for a change--you just don't think it should affect you, just every person after you. LOL

Okay , it seems with today's patch, SOE intends if you have all 4 power regen items, the most in-combat regen you can have from items is 29 per tick. Instesad of assassinating the items, why didn't they leave all of them stackable as is and just put in the hard cap of 29 ? At least that way folks had a choice how they got the 29 per tick, now you have to have all 4 items to get it.

LOL

Its not simply that I wish the change did not effect me or any before me, although that is one possible solution to this kind of issue which i threw out there. I am simply saying that I do not feel it is fair to make such a drastic change to a rare item such as RoI which generally requires a significant time/money investment, without offering any form of recourse. That is, now that the most important stat on the robe has been retroactively changed, there should, at least, be some way for those of us with already attuned robes to make up for that lost time/money. It could be as simple as automatically setting the all RoI to unattuned so those who no longer want can resell for at least a partial return in investment. Personally, this was a hard item to get, and in its current state I do not think it was worth the effort required. Its not like the suggestion of only new RoI having the nerf while the old ones stay the same is that new of thing for Sony. It is also not asking much for a 20 plat robe (yeah they sold for that on my server) to remain worth that 20 plat, or if its going to be reduced to a 8 plat robe that the 12 plat worth of worth or at least a portion of that be returned to the person who bought it. It would be tricky to compesate folks in a way that is fair to them and other players, but the current solution of big nerfs all around is, in my opinion, not one of the better possible solutions to this balance issue.

I resent the fact that any caster class is considered gimped if they dont have it. Its not a simple issue, there is no fair way to fix this but it needed fixing harsh but understandable. Maybe make the robes aquired before the change worth a decent amount to an npc merchant if you really want to get some money back.

Get over it and move on, you will only end up bitter if you dwell on things you cant change.

Besides retroactive changes need to occur or else those who already have the robe are operating at a higher level that up and coming characters could never hope to achieve.

ROI is one thing look at GEBs the took a 75% reductions to less than some darn robe.

Hell totally nerfing a heritage item is worse an offense than a robe.

I don't post a lot but I honestly have no idea why people always feel entitlement. The robe was obviously overpowered for a very long time. This one item, along with gold efritti boots, were trivializing high end content. The only problem I see is that they waited this long to fix it. Why did they wait? Most likely in a futile attempt to avoid this kind of whining. Remember, the right thing is not always the most popular thing.

I would also like to remind people that the robe will have 5 more in combat power regen than any other robe that most people will see. The boots as well. The boots also have great stats for casters and priests. My only request would be to make the robe more easily aquired like it once was. I never liked the idea of grandfathering benefits in real life nor do I think its profer in gaming. If the robe was easy to get once it should still be. People who were 1 level too low have been bitter about this for ages.

Finally, I would like to remind people that this is an ever changing game. Anyone who has gamed for years knows that there is no absolutes, no entitlements, and no permanent best. Thats why people who forever chase the "flavor of the month" classes and items are always unhappy. Find a class you enjoy no matter how powerful. Find items you enjoy and enjoy them while they last. The game will always change and you need to chase after it.

When someone moves your cheese. . . go out and find some new cheese!

Mutt Fuzzybottom

50 Assassin 41 Jeweler

Club FU

Blackburrow

For whatever it's worth:

The ROI is not completletly necessary so and we all already know how SOE nerfs stuff so 1)You should have known not to waste as much time and money and energy getting it. 2)It really doesn't help all that much when battling end mobs. I mean you're going to run outta power whether you have it or not. This idea that you have to have it is completely nonsense. You run outta power you die you revive and join in the fight again.

Having said all of that I think that they reduced the mana regen too much. 7 points is nothing. Even if you stack it with other items it's not going to be enough to make that big a difference on the end game mobs. Playing normal mobs it helps, I can see that but not end game mobs.

Bottom line is I think they nerfed it a little too hard, but you should have known better than to spend as much time and effort to get it. And this idea that because you did you are warranted some "candy" is nonsense. Buyer beware when it comes to items like this and SOE

Funny thing about this nerf. I dont have gebs nor roi, I am a necro lvl 50 i dont have much trouble generating power guess im lucky in that regard. That being said as we speak, i am eagerly awaiting the server up in hopes of getting my chance at an roi why? Because every little bit helps. Am i sad that it will not help as much as before? Yes i am, does that mean i am not going to do what it takes to get every possible thing i can to help me not matter how small it may be now? nope. Lots of people have that robe already and i can understand their pain due to having something that was vital to their success being reduced to a state of perceived uselessness. It does suck but it is not the end of the world last time i checked nerfing the roi/gebs/botm was not one of the seven signs. So the robe wont give me 20 and the boots are only gonna be 5 and not stackable with the ring. ack i will find another way. We all should. Being pidgeon holed is never a good thing, think outside the box and overcome the challenge.

It sucks for all the people who are affected by it, some more than others. But it was still needed and it needed to be retroactive as well.
