<DIV> <DIV>well I was looking around seeing as how a bunch of people like the death penalty for dueling, others don't, and I thought of a way that might work, and have some plus sides to. I was thinking that the way it is should stay the same, how if you're fighting someone outside of your group you'll get the same death penalty as dying from a mob. But what they can add is so you can duel people in your group and instead of the death blow killing them, it will just pronounce the winner in group chat. This could make camping mobs and waiting for more group members much less boring, actually make it fun. If I could just pvp for fun in the group while camping some grey mob or waiting for more raid members to come, that'd be great, and also less people would say that camping is such a timesink. </DIV> <DIV>__________________________________________________ __________________________________</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>The above was posted by another thread "duel idea".</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Now i think this would be a very very very neat idea, indeed. Give players options. Isnt that what everquest is all about, right? <img src="/smilies/3b63d1616c5dfcf29f8a7a031aaa7cad.gif" border="0" alt="SMILEY" /> To expand a bit on the above post this is what I think could be done...</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>1. You can get the option of /duel as it is now - to death with the penalties and all to give a challenger a run for his money. </DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>2. But also, have the option of /spar which by definition is "To fight with an opponent in a short bout or practice session" . Have it so it does not incurr in any exp debt nor death, but provides a message of who the winner is and then resets once the fight is over or one gives up/surrender. </DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Yes. Yes. and Yes.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>comments???</DIV> <DIV> </DIV></DIV>

Only thing i can see is that it should not reset (hp/power to full etc) because then people could just spar back to full mana health easily lol. Other than that i like the /spar idea. I want to test out my necro pet vs the Conjurer pet for my lvl. <div></div>

I was thinking more in the line of reseting the encounter to end it. No power or health regen.</DIV>

I like the idea. I want to be able to duel for fun, and dueling with experience debt and other penalties is not fun.5 stars <img src="/smilies/3b63d1616c5dfcf29f8a7a031aaa7cad.gif" border="0" alt="SMILEY" />
<P>BUMP !</P> <P>I love the idea <img src="/smilies/3b63d1616c5dfcf29f8a7a031aaa7cad.gif" border="0" alt="SMILEY" /> It's a fun factor ;b </P> <P>Duel should be kept for real enmity. Spar should be casual playing between friends to test each other strength... Or to train ! Great idea testing your spells and abilities !</P> <P> </P> <P>Please implement spar ! I'm certain it would be far more usefull and enjoyed than duel !</P>

I love this idea. Just tried out the /duel system a few hours ago for the first time. I'm not a big fan of the dying and having to revive back at a camp. Dueling shouldn't be to the death like that every time. It would also be very interesting to have a betting system in place <img src="/smilies/8a80c6485cd926be453217d59a84a888.gif" border="0" alt="SMILEY" /> That's not a biggie though. I'd really love to be able to spar with friends without killing or getting killed. --- On a bug/annoyance note: Annoyance: cursor does not change to the attack cursor. Changing it to show that your target is an enemy would be nice. Bug: after dueling, my opponent died. He revived, I grouped back up with him. I disbanded and tried to duel with him again, but it registered as still in dueling mode. I could not re-duel with him and I could not attack mobs. Typing /duel_surrender returned "You have no outstanding challenges!" but cleared up the problem nonetheless. <div></div>

<P>Prolly not in test server yet, but...</P> <P>from <A href="http://eq2vault.ign.com/View.php?view=asksoe.Detail&category_select_id=42" target=_blank>http://eq2vault.ign.com/View.php?view=asksoe.Detail&category_select_id=42</A></P> <P> </P> <DIV><I><B>Sassee:</B> While we are on the topic of PvP, and duels that are being added soon in the form of a live update, can you elaborate on the death penalty issue with regards to dueling? </I><BR> <B>Scott Hartsman:</B> For right now, we’re planning on going with penalty-free dueling in Arenas, but anywhere else, the standard death penalty will apply to the loser. </DIV> <P>so seems somethin for those that just want to have fun is on way.<BR></P>

If they get enough feedback about it, I'm sure they'll offer some more options. <div></div>
