View Full Version : LU #10 seems a bit.. blah?
Not much going on there, just a few minor tweaks and fixes. Are the developers alpha testing Splitpaw or something?

I very much so agree with the yawn fest. It looks like these "updates" are all items that could be patched in on the server resets.

How about bringing us some of the fixes that so many classes have been looking for for months?

There is one think that I'm really sorry to see go.....

- You can no longer scribe, equip, attune, or destroy items in your bank unless you are talking to a banker.

I always like storing all my adepts in the bank and then scribing them when I dinged. Did the same think with weapons and armor. I know it probably wasn't right, but it made it a lot safer because I never had to worry about selling something by accident out of my inventory.

*** Collection Quests ***

- There is now a Collections tab in the quest journal listing all of your collection quests.
- Collection quests no longer count toward your maximum quest total of 50 in the quest journal.
- In order to add an item to your collection, you will now examine the item, then drag and drop it into your journal.

This is the single greatest change they have ever made. I don't care if they don't change anything else, this makes it worth it. Well, in my opinion anyways.

Well ive been waiting for them to balance the healers *sneezefuriessneeze* since way back on LU#6 when they said they were getting on it. I've been waiting so patiently for them to get around to giving some love or even a doggamn nod in our direction... now this game is already at LU#10 and they haven't really said much about it in the last few LUs. I am quite frustrated with the lack of anything being done to fix blatant glaring problems with balance. Now that the updates are in the double digits and still nothing has been done I am on the verge of dropping the $25/month I pay to SOE and crossing over to WoW like I have contemplated doing for a long time. What's the point of staying loyal to this game if SOE doesn't seem to care about me

Funny, I came to this forum to see if anybody felt the same way, and this thread is sitting right on top. Outside of the collection quest stuff, this should all be in the daily patches that we haven't really been having. I get the distinct feeling that we're going to see fewer daily patches and more of this kind of patch as the team gets ramped up on splitpaw and the new expansion.

Looks like a normal patch to me too, not sure why this got the "LU" title. PvP challenges has dropped off the list too? I blame E3, they're probbably just now getting fully recovered.

Sony is really starting to drop the ball big time. Why aren't they fixing the numerous quests, spells, and other such stuff that have been broken since launch. How aobut the new really costly bugs introduced in LU #9; Locked combat or even food being comsumed on death. These bugs are costing alot of money and time for many players. I for one am getting sick of waiting and getting nothing in turn. I think Sony needs to start stepping up to the plate and fixing the stuff that's broken before they add more.
Message Edited by BlondJonIL on 06-02-2005 12:00 PM

I downloaded the patch last night, and This WAS a fairly large update. Took be about 20 minutes to download via broadband, had quite a few things for splitpaw, but quite a few other changes as well. You have to keep in mind, that on an update like this, were probably lucky to get 40% of the changelog. For starters tho, I noticed that you can no longer jump on the griffon without dismounting your horse first, so all those fury's, shamans, etc. that have to decloak first can stop complaining, we all have to now. You can now mend all, instead of clicking for every item, and the journal would be nice,.. IF i did collections.

I expect that more and more changes are being written against the Big Combat Revision; thus, fewer and fewer large changes show up in the LUs. It makes some sense; after all, why code a change to a spell that will be rewritten in the Big Combat Revision anyway? For that matter, if you did, the dev team would have to do twice the work or more to make sure that any changes worked not only against the current combat/spell system but the new one as well.Changes outside the Big Combat Revision, like the Collection mechanics, quest fixes, and so forth can still get placed in an LU but probably not very many class-specific issues.

I want to see FIXES happen, the agro lock bug, the mmissing spirit shard bug, the imbalance for warlock mobs compared to any other mob, spell fixes, ability fixes, class balance ( yes i know the official line about needing to wait till the combat revamp)The other day i logged in and several members in my guild had been promoted to senior officer, no guild event genreated by the event, and not one of my officers made the p romotion, they just got promoted spontaneously.luckily they didnt do anythign damageing, cuz in this system all it takes is to have this happen to one [Removed for Content] and a lvl 20 guild goes down the tube.Thought LU's were about fixing the stuff that is broken, wrong, bugged, glitched, whatever, not changing things that work to be just as annoying as it was before, only in a different way (dragging collection items onto your quest journal to add to your collection?? The aggro lock bug is annoying but I'm hoping that they're planning on fixing it in a daily rather than in an LU (call me an optimist). Class fixes, ability fixes, spell fixes, class balance fixes, etc. are all being implemented in the Big Combat Revision which you've just got to wait for (I know you don't want to hear that ... heck, I don't want to hear that ... but that's the way it is).

Only thing i can see thats even new (which is what the stupid LU content updates were supposed to be) is the journal bit. The putting back in of furnature via recipies for carpenters that they took out from npc's? Uh. Sorry but they get no credit for that. That's just like shoving a pie in your mouth, chewing a bit and then spitting it back up and calling it a new meal.Quests i dont see much being fixed and they are adding nothing else to the game. Heck. They are even breaking quests i finnished a long time ago (Hi Stormfire) when it actually worked by changing it around a bit! Blackguard was very helpful in chiming in that tibit of the editing around of existing quests to provide more fun or whatever. Which is good i guess... IF you are just starting the game and didn't already do it.This is what a normal patch day looks like if all they are doing is adjusting/tweaking existing stuff. I've never understood the meaning of the word weaksauce till i saw this update.Oh. And they are hot fixing the combat locking and throwing in a change to how yell works in case they messed that up. Dont need to target to yell and break no more.

some of the previous LU's have been huge and it repairs the sony faction at least back to indifferent from apprehensive, but this one is BS i'd give i'd say we're going from threatening to apprehensive *hint better MMO's out there*. BTW station exchange isn't a good idea, it's going to give everyone the perfect excuse to ditch their LVL 50 toon and quit. One of the things that keeps me going is thinking about the sheer amount of hours that I've put into my character since launch, and it would be a shame to throw it away without getting some money for it. Oh okay, thanks station exchange *acct sold* /wave GuildWars Vanguard.

I think the reason this is a LU is because of the splitpaw zones that are in-game now for those with StationAccess and those who will preorder.
