<DIV>Before working on any more content ... expansions  and/or sound bites for god sake, please fix the combat bug. How long has this game been out and this extremely frustrating bug still persists? </DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Thank you!</DIV> <DIV> </DIV>

FFXI had combat locking as well and i never remember once getting stuck in combat to where i had to camp out myself , let alone a group or a full out raid....

they already said, in one of John Smedleys letters ( a long time ago when I still read them) that they had MULTIPLE development teams....one team worked on expansions and adventure packs, one worked on bugs and one worked on making new content for the existing game outside of adventure packs and expansions....These kinda comments happen all the time, but people don't realise that they have mutliple teams working on things, so cut them some slack.

Well, it sure feels like their staff for developing new stuff has a lot more members than the bug fixing section. What the OP suggested (and what I very much agree with) was to raise the priority of bug fixing (= put more people to work on the bugs instead of new content). Its a balance act of course...can't have it all. <div></div>

<DIV>It seemed more of an angry post to me, but I agree it seems like theres more new content guys than bug fixers but thats ok. Everything gets fixed with time, best to not take games to seriously.</DIV>

I think this would be a simple fix, allow the call for help button to break all active encounters rather than having to target them. May cause some frustration, but I know I get very angry when I get stuck in combat and can't break it. <div></div>

<DIV>Their whole bs combat system where encounters lock and runspeed is reduced is what causes 90% of the stupid bugs in this game... It would be better if they just removed the runspeed reducer. Or hell, the whole locked encounter thing. FFXI had a clean locked encounter system (god forgive me for saying something good about that aweful game), because you only had reduced speed when u had your weapon out, not when u were locked.</DIV> <DIV>This game's whole design is a flaw haha... Example? When it was created and advertised to us, it wasn't solo friendly at all, which is why they took snares away from a bunch of classes, made roots suck, took runspeed bonuses out of combat, etc. Now since beta, they have made it a freakin 75% solo game, but kept the annoying crap. It's all a hypocrisy!!</DIV> <DIV>And another hypocrisy... They were so freaking anti-power leveling by making us unable to help out of group people at all... now they add mentoring and I can duo with friend noob as my fury, solo "group" mobs for ~4 hours mentoring, and he gains 10 levels. So the whole anti-PL thing is moot now. The game needs so much work it's unbelievable.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Frogs r great tho <img src="/smilies/283a16da79f3aa23fe1025c96295f04f.gif" border="0" alt="SMILEY" /> except for this new encounter bug that came with them</DIV>

I will cut them slack when i am on the payrol and not PAYING them for something that is always broken.

I have to admit, the combat bug can be quite painful when you're deep in a dungeon and the only way to "fix" it is to log and come back.  In most dungeons, there are few places that are safe for a group to disband, log, and rejoin to fix the issue.  Case in point, we all camped to fix the problem only to come back and get wiped by spawning mobs (can't invite in the middle of a fight so there's no way to help as players start coming back).  We've even tried crawling back out to a safer spot but eventually run out of power and die before reaching a safer area. <div></div>

<DIV>Lets not forget that it is MUCH easier to create content and send it out biggy. The team that fixes someone else's screw up has it much harder. I would like to see them stop production on new content and make both teams fix the bugs. Then have them carry on making buggy content....</DIV>

<P>Explain to me how you can be adding 10 more levels of spells, arts, and critters, when the basic game is about to go through a major revision????</P> <P> </P> <P>Combat and spell systems are, according to SOE going through a revision... how can you be writing 10 more levels when what we HAVE doesn't work???</P> <P> </P> <P>And the multiple Dev team concept is crapola... there are multiple teams, but they are made of the same core group, you know... the ones who know how the game works...</P> <P>or... then agian... as demonstrated by the latest pathing and combat bugs... maybe not...</P>

OMG. Hello King Behe unlocking for one second only to have someone from another LS put a dot on it. Behe then chases everyone around purple so you can't attack it but hate is still stuck on the people that won the pull.FFXI is a horrible game to try and say combat locking works since it doesn't. Dorks would always heal 4 the tanks then go invincible to try and move Fafu so he spiked to death 3 parties.Stealing a mob in that game was easy and happened all the time. Except the mobs didn't magically gain all their HP back (they gained it at an accelerated rate unless engaged quickly) so it was really something people did try/do.Edit: Half that's off topic but thats why praising ffxi's locking is bad.<p>Message Edited by Silversnow on <span class=date_text>05-31-2005</span> <span class=time_text>08:37 PM</span>

Maybe they already took a look into it and couldn't figure out how to fix it? or maybe they did, but determined that it would almost take rewriting all the combat code? personally I'd rather have 1 weeks worth of fixed combat arts/spells than fixing a bug that you can get rid of by zoning or waiting a few minutes. <div></div>

<DIV>Yes, they said priest balancing was coming in this update and this update, and that this would be done and this would be done blah blah blah...what about scout balance, no mention of that ever. As far as I knoew, when one archtype can't solo (without having to spend oodles of money on arrows so they can run in a circle and shoot a big monster) heroic mobs that are at the minium of green con to them than somethings wrong. As far I knew priests could always do their job, which was healing...or at least I assumed it was healing.</DIV>

So far they seem to have gotten melee where they want it, although they had to turn it off on Test after they applied a change that severely increased mobs' damage without a (planned) change (to player chars?) that would temper said damage. It's been a couple of months; I'm betting that it will be another couple of months or more given the huge number of things that they're trying to incorporate in this Revision. My only suggestion: have patience.
