View Full Version : Lord Gydak
Has anyone killed lord gydak on test since the change to the mobs in SH? On live there are 2 groups of mobs that are near the bone chair past the corpse hunter, and there is no gydak minion in the area. I would assume with no PH Boneblood soldiers and evokers, that you need to kill the minion to spawn him. I am not looking for a walk through, just an answer as to whether someone has been able to spawn and kill him without the PHs that used to be near the bone chair.

I've been camping the area on Guk for a week and have seen no sign of Gydak or the PH mobs. Another quest gone splat.

heh.. same here.. I pretty much camped the place for about a week killing everything in he tunnels up to the oozes and never saw ANYTHING in that area except for the wandering boneblood every now and then.. didn't think anything of it at the time since there are some mobs that only spawn if you have certain quests.. thought this was one of those since i never got a quest to kill him, was mostly just killing things for xp.. one of the few areas in antonica that still had group mobs.

Message Edited by Kaknya on 06-06-2005 09:00 AM

I believe this may be an issue with the mobs being stuck in geometry or something else along those lines. I have been hunting down there a lot recently on the live servers and what I have seen is that, if I fight the wandering blood bone imp while in the first room in from the jail, about half way through the fight a group containing Gydak Elite suddenly appears and starts attacking me. Most of the time I run from this situation but once I was quite close to finishing off my first encounter so I decided to stand and fight. Before I had a chance to finish the final 20% of health on the first mob, the Gydak encounter disappeared again. They were not simply invisible or anything like that as I was no longer being attacked by that encounter at all. I thought I was accidentally triggering a spawned encounter above or below me as the rooms mentioned have never been populated since I started hunting down there.

I know this is not much to go on but hopefully this information can be of use to someone.

I havnt been into SH on test but on live I was doing the quest and got to the part where I needed to kill him and spent nearly 8 hours between 2 sessions and even after server reboot and he would not spawn, killed that group of guards, the wandering skell and the gobs but there is no PH standin near the chair. I think he is bugged as I read he always had PH's by the chair but not anymore.

Yes I killed lord gydak on test last week. Twice. No, just going into his area if need him for the quest triggers him. There are 3 groups of 5 with him. Start the battle with him, and eventually everyone is on you. A long fight, for a fair reward. Tried a 2 nd time with another character, left him despawn. Exit thezone and return to respawn him. No real problems noted.

Dye

Well that's peculiar, because when I enter the area Gydak does not spawn for me. I can get the Gydak Elites to spawn in the hall by the graffiti (just off the room with the chair), but Gydak doesn't spawn with them. I have also tried zoning out and back in and then running to his spawn point (as you suggested), but Gydak does not spawn when I get there. On more than one occasion I have sat in that spot and killed cycle after cycle of Elites for hours trying to get him to spawn... with no luck. Either there is some trick to it, or he's bugged, or I am.

Note: I did all of this on a live server, not test.

Message Edited by Grapool on 06-15-2005 10:07 PM

Ok Dyeana, i went into the area. No spawn. I killed the goblins, and then went back a little and killed the minion. No Gydak spawn. I have run all through the tunnels and dropped down the well to backtrack to be sure i didn't miss anything. Where is his spawn now?

I was back down there yesterday and this time the room with the chair was populated with Gydak Elite and Bone Bloods, all of which were not attackable. I ran around the to see if Lord Gydak could be triggered but I did not get anything. I am currently at the step where I am supposed to kill Lord Gydak so that is not the issue.

I am now at a stage where I do not know what is supposed to happen so I don't think I can test this too much further, however if anyone would like me to try anything, just let know.

the impression that I am getting is that Gydak is bugged on all live servers... but he works properly on test

It was not untill after Update #10 to Test server that I could finish the preceeding quest for Gydak. For me, it was broken there on Test. Could not get credit for Lord D from the quest giver to complete the quest and start the Lord G Quest. FIrst completed with 34 Paladin and 34 Templar (pally - cleric two boxing group). Most mobs greyed out for me at this level. Both had the quest and completed each part together.

With comments concerning Gydak hitting the messageboard here, I decided to see if the quest was do-able. I finished the quest getting credit from Lord D's death. Recieved the new quest for Lord G.

Noted in quest, not to seek out Lord G, but investigate the quest giver. First part was find his bones, click on bones in the torture section of the jail and the group of minions spawn on you and attack. Get scroll detailing what the quest giver was doing when he died. Second part, kill 50 undead to weaken Lord G. I killed 50 in the area fairly quick. Third part, kill Lord G

Entered the caves, entered the area for Lord G. Stopped at the spot the cave passage opens up to the area for Lord G. Area spawned, each group spawned then Lord G himself spawned. Targetted Lord G, the only targetable mob, approached him directly, noting the other mobs were bold white and not targetable. Commenced to Kill Lord G. As killing him, the other mobs in the room come alive and start beating on you while you are attacking Lord G. Finished Lord G, then turned attention to others, eventually killing all them. Completed quest. (only wished pallies could use the quest item and clerics got some alternate but this would not be keepig with the story line which I thought was good at this point)

Did second performance with a mage quester (and cleric). Let Lord G despawn. Suggested to mage to see if exiting the zone would reset the encounter, much like some other encounters are reset. Quest holder then reset the event by exiting the zone - run out the library, then returned. Lord G espawned. Proceeded to kill the lot and completed the quest.

Note with Update #11A on Test server, they have a change to Lord G mobs and their despawning time. This may help the encounter. I won't be able to check it at this point since I have completed the quest. I think most others on Test never really complete it unless you can use the quest object since it is time comsuming. So I can't help you there.

Dye

I found my problem with this, after reading the description Dyeana gave and comparing it turned out i had the old quest. The one before it was changed to what you said, with only kill lord Gydak in it. Once i deleted my old quest and got it again i was able to easily complete it. They should have added in the notes that you needed to get it again if you already had it =/ Thanks for the infro Dyeana. I wouldn't have known to delete it otherwise.

Gydak bugs appear to be fixed. Please refer to my thread here: http://eqiiforums.station.sony.com/eq2/board/message?board.id=quest&message.id=73660

Yah, he r fixed, and a crapload harder than he used to be, I might add. My friend and I were duoing to him on alts (27 monk/mystic). The mobs to get to him weren't difficult, we figured they would be somewhat indicative of his difficulty, ya know... but i walked in and he spawned; we fought him for like a minute, him doing a ton of dmg to me, then 5 mobs run after me. We got owned. Since nobody would join us, looks like we're just gonna have to wait till he's green

Right then, I'll try this. I've wasted a lot of time trying to get him up with the old quest. Thanks!
