<DIV>  Finnaly some fun for us level 50's out there. I cant wait to fight all in my guild bwhahaha.</DIV> <DIV>While I belive this will be fun I would still like to see some kind of PVP arenas put in also. Like one in each city where people can enter and fight it out FFA pvp style.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV> To all that are complaining about the new /duel wake up man. This was in EQ1 from the get go and only added fun to the game. If you dont want to PVP you dont have to. I dont see the problem. If someone spams you with /duel out them on ignore and move on gees.</DIV>

oh god.. please dont assume this is a solution for the level-50 content problem. It's just a gimmick. <div></div>

/duel doesnt do anything for a lvl 50.

<P>Actually it promotes competition between players which in a sense will make you play more (and this may show more of the class imbalances -- thus having them addressed faster)</P> <P>Geez people strive to get to 50 so they can raid but after you have all that gear, what do you plan on doing -- sitting around town polishing it?  Seriously go out and show how good you are after earning all that equipment by /dueling with friend or foe</P>

<DIV>Here comes Coronet Starport once again:</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>"Anyone want to duel me??!!"</DIV> <DIV>"I'm the hawtness |337! <P>That's bound to happen in any game though, you're always going to get people who act like idiots</P> <P>I don't see it being as bad in EQ2 though since (at least on Befallen) most people are mature in what they do</P>

<P>Dueling is fine for those who are interested, but something like this has been posted elsewhere:</P> <P>12YearOld:  /duel I want to fight you, let me destroy your lowly Ranger<BR>You: /No<BR>12YearOld: /Come on you are a loser, fight me<BR>You: /No<BR>12YearOld: /You are a nOOb wimpazoid, fight me<BR>You: /No. Go away.<BR>12YearOld: /Rangers are wimps, they cannot fight anything else<BR>You: /I don't care what you think. Leave me alone.<BR>12YearOld: /Nyaaah!<BR>You: /ignore 12YearOld</P> <P>Definitely makes a case for the developers adding some kind of autoignore flag for /duel. (Which I have to assume they are doing, or will.) Anyway, should add a little extra element of uncertainty to the game for those who are complaining about boredom :smileywink:</P>

/duel makes a window pop up. You can hit no on the window to decline the duel There are some current problems with dueling that I hope get fixed before it goes live (probably not but I can dream right?) <div></div>

There are two sets of variables for each of your skills. One for PVP and one for PVE. So when you mash the "I Win!" button and do 500 damage to a npc in PVE, you mash the same "I Win!" button in PVP and it wont do the same damage. So it wont unballance anything when they tinker with the setting for PVP since it doesn't toutch the pve.

I would like to see an option to autodecline a duel.  I wouldn't want to keep seeing some box popping up in the middle of my window when I am busy and would be very annoyed if I ended up clicking the wrong part of it due to lag or somesuch. <div></div>

I dont understand the uproar.  Ok I understand people dont like PvP.  And I find it entertaining to see someone say that the only reason they play this game is because it isnt PvP.  Then why play the game.  There is so much more to it then it isnt PvP.  PvP will be optional.  If someone bugs you to duel then say no.  I played WoW on a PvE server and maybe 3 times in 4 months did I get challenged to a dual.  I think it is going to be good for the game,   It will give people another option of what they want to do.  Whether it be crafting, grinding, questing, and soon to be PvPing.  I agree that /auto decline should be optional to use also. but to complain about PvP.  You all knew it was going to come.  They said it.  Honestly if people stop playing because of it, think about how many players want PvP and the lvl 50's that quit because they were bored.  This will give them something to do so more people will start playing or come back then leave IMO.  <div></div>

<DIV>The other advantage to duel is that it gives those of us on RP servers more options to RP with. </DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>The 'uber l33t' ganker culture some people are so worries about is'nt as prevolent now after games like DAoC and WoW that focused primarily on team pvp than it was in the early days of EQ and UO. The entire pvp culture has evolved to include more mature people who like the challenge of dealing with another player as opposed to relatively simple AI. Most of us, by a massive majority, prefer a good equal fight to grey ganking... which is about the equivelent of killing grey mobs... not very fun.</DIV>

<P>I'm not going to argue about whether UO pvp was good or bad, just that the open nature of it is one of the things people on these boards are most negatively reactive too when any type of pvp is discussed. Good, bad, or indifferent is not the issue, the issue is that EQ2 is not implementing anything even close to it.</P> <P>I just think a lot of people )well maybe not a lot since what people in game say compared to people on the boards doesn't always synch) are overeacting to the implementation of /duel.</P> <P>I played WoW for awhile too, and even though I really love team based pvp, I just like the EQ would better than the WoW world so I prefer to spend my time here. For te months that I played I was only asked to /duel about three times and all of those times by people my level, and all of those times by people who were interested in testing their skills with their class against my class. Twice I won and was thanked by the losers both times.</P> <P>I'm not saying the [Removed for Content] crowd isn't otu there, but I've already got a decent /ignore list going from people who spam /shout or /ooc and this is on an RP server.</P> <P>Dueling isn't going to suddenly drag the game into the dregs or even cange the player base 1%. It's just another option for those of us who might enjoy it.</P>

the problem i have with this duel thing is the fact that you get xp debt, i dont care about my eq, i have always 5-6g on me. but xp debt for duelin is kinda harsh....just ike the post above me was saying.
