So, am I going to have to drop some plat to get my WIS up after these combat changes go in? I have an uber (laugh) 85 WIS right now and that's with my level 40 spec skill buff. I can't imagine what pain this will cause fighters that aren't high-level paladins or can't get WIS buffs from others. Let's see... new jewelery and maybe a new hex doll or two - OUCH!

Here's a thought... how about upgrading the WIS on our existing armor at the same time this goes live? At least then, we don't have to swap out numerous existing slot items (that are attuned and now worthless).

And another question: What exactly are the resist stats for again when WIS provides resists?

yeah, true.....as a priest, i'll also have to drop some coin to switch out armor and jewelry to upgrade the stat that helps my ability to perform my primary role in a group....

oh, nevermind...there isn't any stat that does that for priests.

Perhaps shift to your 2nd tank who has higher wis than you when you go up against a caster mob. Have your chanters/whoever finally use those int debuffs that were previously worthless (for the most part). Make sure you work on your resists as well. the Wis vs Int deal only focuses on a damage bonus to the spell, and i'm sure that only applies if it lands. If you resist a spell, a bonus to it wont matter at all They're simply forcing us to be a little more dynamic and thoughtful about the way we go about things. I kinda like it personally, but i can see how this could irritate some people as it really could be a significant shift from the norm.

-Aeg

Message Edited by Aegorian on 05-18-2005 12:15 PM

I don't believe that any tank currently has high WIS (over 100 unbuffed). I don't personally know any level 40-50. Almost every tank will likely require lots of upgrading. Keep in mind that tanks are the ones that will take the brunt of casters, so if any class would require high WIS it would be tanks. Heavy armor also sucks for WIS stats - it just isn't there in large amounts.

Instead of trying to upgrade your WIS to negate the bonus damage; why not work on your resists so you can totally resist the spell. If say a pally has higher wis then any other tank would that not make a pally better equiped to fight in a area where there are a lot of casters?? Or would that not make the pally More effective against that caster raid mob??

All this is doing is seperating the classes a little more and making a different tank wanted in different situations. Instead of a pally ONLY being a 'offtank' now they will be highly prized when it comes to fighting caster mobs. Where when you fight beat down mobs a tank with High mitigation will be wanted. Mabye in the future avoidance will be key to fighting certian types of mobs. Then all of those avoidance tanks will also have their place where they are highly prized.

I think this is a good change, I personally don't see this as a bad thing. The game is becoming what they said it would be. Every class will be equally wanted for a different type of encounter.

Message Edited by twiztedfait' on 05-18-2005 03:12 PM

I have yet to see what difference resists will have in this picture, so I reserve judgement regarding this when I see it firsthand. I think all that SOE has to do is to add lots of WIS stats (beyond what is added today) to heavy/med armor and that will solve much of the problem.
problem is, every end-game mob likes to alternate between wild swings for 5,400 and ice comets for 12,000. pallys are still gonna get one-rounded by spells and melee.

That's the kind of thing SOE is adjusting with the combat changes... to avoid that kind of scenario.
