(Just watch how quickly SOE will lock this thread - yet what I am saying is not inflammatory - kind of proves my point :smileywink: )

I have until now been a fairly interested but neutral observer of all the hoo-haa going on about FoH (and other guilds) being given special privileges by SOE in order to test out new content.

I fully sympathise with the SOE line which is they need to find co-operative guilds to test out new content in a robust manner. I can see the need for that and I am sure that in the end the players benefit from this.

I can also see the problems that many players (myself being one of them) have with the headstart that this gives to FoH and other guilds that test out new content.

HOWEVER

SOE has fallen badly short in several key areas:

The almost religious fervour which SOE appears to be locking threads on this subject has started me thinking that SOE really DOES have something to hide. I have no idea what it is but something is starting to smell very fishy.

SOE has been doing the testing in relative secrecy. Far better to have said outright in the beginning that they would be looking for guilds to help them in fact they should have invited guilds to volunteer. I am sure they would have had a lot of interest and would have been able to spread the load more fairly. Secrecy in this case although not total has been enough to start people thinking that there must be some

SOE has totally failed to address the very valid and extremely important objection to this method which undoubtedly gives the guilds testing an unfair advantage over all other guilds in achieving some game firsts. SOE must realize that the chance to be first with something in this game is important to a large portion of their player base. Being first or the best in something garners RESPECT. It is human nature and an important part of what drives many people. Of course this subject is a Doctoral thesis but it cannot be denied. SOE should not, indeed must not ignore this

Edit: Locked because you're just reposting the same thread again, which breaks the clearly posted rules of this forum. Initiating a self-fulfilling prophecy by deliberately posting a thread you know will be locked doesn't prove your point; it only proves that you know how to violate the forum rules.

Message Edited by Moorgard on 05-11-2005 11:25 PM

Number A: You are not the press. Number B: We on test have known about this since it happened. There's even a post about it in the Test forum from April about it. Why is it such a big issue now? Number C: They don't get gamewide credit for anything they do on test. Nothing on test is connected to EQ2Players. They have to go back and go through it all just like you. So maybe your guild should get more participation to beat them out. Number D: I am an ogre.

You had your say....you posted this exact same thing already. And your points are still not that great and you're still exaggerating and using emotive language to try and make them, for which you deserve even less creedance. I cannot fathom why you think SOE would or should want to waste time fielding testing applications from novice raid guilds when they could be (and are) using experienced raid testers.

Message Edited by Amise on 05-11-2005 10:10 PM

Well from what I have heard from all the other posts is bragging. Do you really want to have a guild full of braggers testing out the game? I myself have done it but I can count the number of times that I have done it with 1 hand. The 6 previous threads locked about FoH has their members bragging left and right. Who is to say that there is not a guild on a different server that is just as qualified to do the testing.

I also think that the Moderators are abusing their powers by locking every forum that leads to this discussion. But I guess they have good reason to as all they wanted to do was use a guild to test something on the test server but try to protect this guilds name by locking all these threads. I would be happy if FoH tested the game for us if they did not brag so much on their server accomplishments

What some of the people here fail to mention is that FoH is getting things in order before anyone else and there is most peoples beef with this. I play on Perma and know full well what FoH does on test and then directly does on Perma to gain the benefits of it. There are 2 or 3 better raiding guilds on Perma and probably a good 10 as good if not better spread over all the servers but on Perma you will not see another guild do an epic raid and get the "uber" loot first for the simple fact FoH knows exactly what to do and where to be on patch day when the servers come up to be the first there.

Go poll the folks of Perma if you want a majority. Most cant stand FoH to begin with because all they do is say "We did it first, your nothing." Yea real good attitude to keep boasting SOE, all your doing is feeding thier overinflated egos.

I lock this stuff because you are essentially PICKING on FoH. FoH is NOT the only guild we use on test, but you've focused on them and picked them out for some reason. We will always use high-end guilds to test out content. We don't use just one. No matter who we use, someone else will get bent...so, no I'm not allowing a dozen threads picking on FoH. It is pointless and Gallenite has already addressed it.
