View Full Version : Guild Status

- Added "Purchase Status Items" permission which allows guilds to control which ranks can buy status items from city merchants. Uh... why?  If someone earns status, there's no legit reason to disallow them from spending it.  It seems very unlikely that someone would join a guild just to get status to buy an item or two, then bail from the guild.  And even if they did so, they -did- earn the points, no one earned them for them.  The only possible outcome of this change is that some guilds will undoubtedly lock some of their members into a mode where they can't spend their points for no good reason at all, until they either deem them worthy of spending them, or the member leaves. I just don't see any benefit to this change, and a new form of griefing as a result of the change.  This option should not make it to the live servers. <div></div>

<DIV>I feel a guild should be allowed to do what it wants...if you don't like how a certain permission is being handled with a guild, you can speak with the leader or officers about it...and if they still don't feel the need to change it, then you can leave that guild. It does seem kind of a pointless permission, though, in comparison to others.</DIV>

This was a highly requested feature. People have been regularly earning points, jumping guilds to a 15 or 20 to buy a horse, or most recently the Wyrmsteel recipes from a 30, and then re-guilding. Apparently some people have a problem with being used. <img src="/smilies/8a80c6485cd926be453217d59a84a888.gif" border="0" alt="SMILEY" />

<DIV>I can definitely see both sides of this one.  I'm okay with it only because my guild leaders are very calm, very trustworthy people who seem strongly disinclined to abuse their power.  I can also envision situations where it'll just cause trouble for honest, lower-level or guild-newbie players.  Can't make all of the people happy all of the time, though.  </DIV>

great idea IMO to prevent people just to buy a [expletive ninja'd by Faarbot] horse or craft table <div></div>

This isn't directed at you personally, but I'd like to thank whomever gave me low stars.  Clearly from what I just said I do understand how it feels to have someone bail on you.  We lost almost 2 guild levels from one person bailing right after they joined because we helped her do heritage quests then she bolted.  So yes, I understand the issue.  I just don't agree with this solution, and I also feel in most cases the guild member legitamitely earned their status and has a right to spend it.</span><div></div>

wouldn't it be easiser to only allow status items purchased in say a lvl 20 guild be used in a lvl 20 guild .. so if someone joined your guild and bought a horse .. the horse would then be unuseable if they left until they joined another lvl 20 guild....
