1st off let me say this is how things worked in eq1 and I feel they work the same way in eq2.

They never truly beat anything when its being tested. What happens is the dev's will toss a mob out there and watch FoH do it. 99% of the time the mob being tested is the hardest in the comeing expansion. Now what this will do is give the dev's an idea what the "top" guild can do with the given gear of the old content and what a smaller guild who is still getting this old gear will be able to handle. Now this is only a small view of what the mob will look like, changes are made over and over to the mob. FoH or any other guild able to test content will in no way have a leg up on anyone else when content goes live.

Let me just give a small view of this by what has happened so far. AL beat darathar 1st as they were the 1st to test the daragon because in my views the dev's truly could not take in what a guild could handle at this stage in the game . Now after the testing from AL was done FoH beat darathar after it had been changed from what the dev's saw AL could do. It was later changed a 3rd and 4th time to what people could handle with the gear they had and changes to the games as in the bruiser shrug off change.

The same thing happend in eq1 time and time over where a guild like TR would test content , it would go live, then when TR got the the same stage of content they had tested and it had to be changed more and more to what people would be able to handle ( Plane of Time ring a bell ). Sony can in no way see 5 months ahead of time to what gear people will have due to the odds of gear droping on their random system. The testing before live is just a stage in which the dev's try to see what kind of gear a guild might have at this stage and make content based on that which they will and do change after live.

Now FoH was chosen to test the bloodline adv pack which if it worked out the same as eq1 they would not have done any quest, followed any storeline, or beat any mobs other then the last boss. As I stated before testing this last boss does 1 thing and that is to give the dev's an idea of how to gear this whole zone. They will take the info FoH gave them on the last boss and change the zone to reflect what is to come with how hard to boss will be and change the boss to be in line with a guild able to do it.

Now the whole quest leading up to darathar was well planned out as most have seen but for the ones who did it before changes the mobs before darathar and darathar himself were sad at best. They are still somewhat sad in how hard they are. Now if you take a look at bloodlines the zones leading up to the raid zone and the raid zone itself was THE best thing in eq2 yet. Now the gear was [Removed for Content] poor at best but the zone itself was outstanding and the reason of this was because it was TESTED.

AL and FoH are chosen to test content because they are the best guilds on eq2 atm.. If you want to test something how about stop [expletive ninja'd by Faarbot]ing and become a guild that is more then just talk then the dev's will take a look at you. FoH beat you to server 1st because they are better then you its just that simple. Stop trying to make this system out to be some leet uber guilds only club if you show the dev's you have what it takes to test the hardest content to come then sure they will give you the chance to. One reason the guilds who test content are the ones to get server or worldwide 1st are becuase THEY ARE THE BEST GUILDS IN THE GAME hence why they are testing the content.

By what criteria are they the best? As far as I know they arent even close to lvl 30, NEplusUlta is top and raiding and they are lvl 30(i think on the permafrost server). It has nothing to do with being the best, every server has high end raiding guilds that can currently kill every mob in the game. What did SOE do, go watch each of these guilds raid and decide FOH is the best? Does that even sound plausable? I'm sure its more like some Dev knows someone in FOH and thats why it happened. The fact that people are even arguing that this doesnt give them an advantage or is fair is ridiculous. This is unfair, and it DOES give them an advantage, case closed.

What content has FoH tested since NPU got guild lvl 30 or beat darathar. Guild lvl 30 means a whole loot for raiding /rolleyes but by no way was NPU better then FOH at the time of testing and they have not been able to prove themself to be better with any content since that. NPU did get serverwide 1st kill on zek insta but that does in no way match up to the scale of darathar. NPU is on the guk server and yes the dev's do watch most top guilds. NPU is a good guild dont get me wrong but they will have to prove themself in desert of flame there wont be anything added to the game before that is in line with the whole quest leading up to darathar the 1st time.

Just wanted to add people look at the quest now and think its easy. But when it 1st came out finding all those runes on your own, finding the shard order on your own, finding all the zones on your own ,ect took A LONG TIME it was not posted on every website that has anything to do with eq2.

Message Edited by Nluoldar on 05-10-2005 08:45 PM

Actually NPU is proving themselves now. They just got the World first kill of the Underworld Summoner a few days ago. I bet that FoH does not even know who that is yet. NPU is striving to be the best but when other guilds get advantages then it is very hard to prove themselves worthy

I am sorry nothing will be able to change the views of dev's before desert of flames.. The underworld is a lvl 51 +++ x4 mob you cant compare that to doing darathar 1st. As before stuff was posted that quest took a long long time. Now NPU is proveing themself and I am sure the dev's are watching them but they wont be able to pass FoH before desert of flames.

Oh and yes I am sure the dev's know some people in FoH I mean when your one of the top guilds in eq1 for 5 years and a top guild in eq2 since it went live you tend to get looked at by the dev's.

Message Edited by Nluoldar on 05-10-2005 09:05 PM

having a dev look at you for all of your EQ1 power doesnt really look too good with EQ2. its a diffrent game and just because its the same guild dosent mean that every one that was in EQ1 are in EQ2. I would really like to see a random guild get to try out the new contest and beta test it. sure NPU is doing perdy [expletive ninja'd by Faarbot] well, but so are a lot of other guilds, there is a [Removed for Content] one on najina, and well we arnt doing that bad
