Tradeskill writs are harder and more time consuming to do and most of the time I lose money doing them. Anyway, as a level 30 Jeweler I get about 3,000 per writ.

It does indeed seem a little off until you realise that there are a few significant differences between the two types of writ that put them on a more equal standing.

1) you are limited as to the number of TS writs you can do in a given time period, but there is no such limit for adventure writs. You can't do TS writs one after the other for as long as you like.

2) you can get 2-3 writs for similar mobs and do them all at once, in many cases. Like the 40-45 writs that you can get for Lavastorm, where a full group can complete three writs (goblins of 3 different types that spawn in the first goblin area just past the beach) in about 30 minutes without breaking a sweat.

2) you can do several TS writs fairly quickly (until you reach your limit) if you have all your subcombines done, but setting up the subcombines takes quite a bit of planning and time. To do one TS writ (alchemy) takes me 30-40 minutes from start to finish including time for subcombines. In that time (or an hour at the most for one cycle since that's the refresh time on gate. It's easy easy easy for a full group to complete a set of writs in an hour if they're in the same zone) me plus five other people could have completed a total of 18 adventure writs (see point 2), but six people would have a much harder time completing 18 TS writs. You can't stack TS writs in quite the same way as you can stack adventure writs.

So given all those things I think the slight advantage of not having to walk as far is not unbalancing.

TS writs cost money - aye they doyou can only do one every 30min - correctbut for a freeport player who is getting the 45+ adv writs, TS writs are the only solo writ choice and 1 writ every 30min is still better as if youd go to sol a and do 2 writs in an hour with a small group (incl running).

Some pretty good feedback so far.

One thing I noticed is someone said that a level 30ish tradeskill writ is netting about 3k sp. I did a lvl 47 adventure writ last night and pretty sure i gained about 3500 sp. Are the TS writs inline with this?

One thing, you can't stack adventure writs if you wan't to build faction with a certain one. If you log all 4 adventure writs, when you do one, it reduces the faction with the other 3. So by doing all 4 at once, you would get more SP, but the faction with each order would nullify itself.

As for tradeskill writs costing money, I think it falls inline with the adventure writs. By the time you buy food / drink, a ticket to where the writ is, then you could add the cost of arrows / poisens. I doubt it costs as much as a tradeskill writ, but you don't receive any money for doing the writ to balance it. Where as a tradeskill writ you do receive some return.

Anyone got some info on the amount of faction per writ goin up, the higher level the writ?

Message Edited by Stylin on 04-26-2005 01:39 PM
