<DIV>I just left EQ1 after 3+ years of playing and started EQ2 about a week ago. I am hearing that SoE is introducing some form of </DIV> <DIV>PvP into EQ2.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Can anyone ellaborate on exactly how this will be intended to work or post a link please? I pray to god a lvl 35 PC cannot walk </DIV> <DIV>up to a lvl 13 (me) and just start whacking away at me and I have no say in the matter. I have Friends that play WoW and </DIV> <DIV>apparently this is how PvP is setup on WoW. They basically cannot even play most of the time because some Lvl 30 or so (12 year old kid) </DIV> <DIV>continuously kills them. </DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>That is not fun, that is just freaking stupid. The worst part is is the one's doing the killing have absolutely nothing to gain from it. "It's</DIV> <DIV>just fun to kill the newbs" is the attitude. </DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>SoE, if you are implementing PvP this way.. You just sealed EQ2's fate.. You will go belly up. </DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Make it atleast so you have to accept a duel like in EQ1 (non PvP servers).  </DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>I really like EQ2 WAY more than EQ1 but if someone can walk up to me and start whailin away on me without my consent then</DIV> <DIV>ill start looking for another game to play. It WILL NOT be a SoE game I can guarantee that. </DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV> </DIV>

Normally I do not post here, but I could not help myself.  You say you have been playing EQ1 for 3+ years?  How can you equate dueling and PvP they are two different things.  If you were on a PvP server on eq1 (which I doubt) you would know that SoE had implemented a system which would not allow you to engage individuals out of a certain level range.  The  greater the level range the smaller benefit.  Now having stated that,  I am fairly confident that if and when SoE decides to incorporate DUELING and/or PvP with the 6+ years of EQ1 experienced developers they will bring the same type of encounter experience to EQ2. <div></div>

<P>Yes you are correct I never played ona PvP server and I also did not know there was a level restriction. Now I do.. I never really knew awhole lot about PvP</P> <P>as it never interested me. I had heard from a friend that WoW was setup so you had no choice to "Accept" an encounter with another PC so I got concerned when</P> <P>I heard EQ2 was possibly getting some form of PvP. My concern was that SoE did not implement it in the way WoW has it.. I Pray to god you are correct. </P> <P>What you say makes perfect sense.. Guess time will tell..</P> <P>Thanks for the info on PvP.. </P> <P> </P>

Can't find the link at the moment, but they have said it'll only be consensual, and will be a totally separate system to the PvE system. e.g. The combat will be say, based in an arena, and be in a different form of combat, such as jousting, thumb wars, chess (probably non of those, but you get the idea!) <img src="/smilies/8a80c6485cd926be453217d59a84a888.gif" border="0" alt="SMILEY" /> and will have a totally separate, different, new set of skills. In theory, this should stop the nerf wars or 'balancing' that usually follow PvP. It remains to be seen if this will be the case though.<img src="/smilies/3b63d1616c5dfcf29f8a7a031aaa7cad.gif" border="0" alt="SMILEY" /><p>Message Edited by Rothgor on <span class=date_text>04-21-2005</span> <span class=time_text>05:20 PM</span>

<P>Actually it seems that WoW PvP since they introduced Honor has gone out of the window. Most server are 75% alliance (one faction) and 25% Horde (the other faction). The fact is that if you are Horde you get ganked by people all the time. 1vs20 quite often to say the least (No longer play WoW but still have friends playing and seriously thinking about quitting and maybe give EQ2 a shot)</P> <P>Moreso people are waiting out of instanced zone and since your char pops before you are out of the loading screen youre toast. Corpse camping is still not condiered griefing and people are also often camping graveyards (release points when dead) AND your corpse so your only solution is to log out and hope they tire before you. Talk about fun.</P> <P>If they keep it like that with the soon release of Guild Wars i guess the figure of active accounts at Wizard will drop fast. One can hope it will also mean more people coming to EQ2.</P> <P>Im all for PvP in EQ2 but not open PvP like WoW has. More like the RvR in DAoC which wasnt mindless bashing of the other faction and had goals to achieve, would give an edge to the faction holding some place and MORE THAN ANYTHING a PvP that is not imposed on all players but only by those who choose to take part in it.</P>
