This is BALANCING? We're talking about COMPLETELY NULLIFYING CLASS TRAITS here. I play a L39 Templar and L26 Guardian -- note both wear heavy armor hence my DISDAIN about these changes. I'd like to wait until these changes are live; but I've read the test feedback and I'm PRAYING these changes can get deleted/stalled re-designed because if they go live I'll have to re-roll a new character to continue playing and that's a huge waste of time. Templar: Right now; if I'm getting beat on by even grey MoB I can only get off 1 in 3 spells -- even con or higher and dig a grave. Change to; More interrupts since no blocks or parries and no avoid due to heavy armor? So WHY DID I CHOOSE A HEAVY ARMOR WEARING CHARACTER? HEAVY ARMOR IS NOW A DETRIMENT. Add to that I'm going to get MORE AGGRO = get beat on more. Class trait of heavy armor wearing templar is NULLIFIED. My templar will be wearing light; no doubt about it. I try to avoid getting beat on anyway; atleast if I'm in light I'll have some chance to avoid and heal myself and group mates. Templar in Heavy Armor = worthless Templar in Light Armor = VERY Weak Druid Guardian: I chose Guardian for defense. Now will be capped; and tower shield -- once the trademark of guardian -- is almost worthless and only 1 percent better then little kite 1/4 the size. Any class can reach guardians equal in defense at the defense cap. So CLASS TRAIT IS NULLIFIED -and- HEAVY ARMOR IS A DETRIMENT. Guardian = VERY Weak Berserker. The whining Berserkers who CHOSE less defense for highter DPS are getting their wishes granted. The whining Monks who CHOSE lighter armor for AGI and DPS then whined they couldn't stand toe to toe with an epic are getting their wishes granted. Bottom Line: 1) Heavy Armor is a detriment; 2) class traits of guardian nullified; 3) class traits of cleric nullified; and 3) Tower Shield is no discernible benefit. If you have the Str to back it up why does Heavy armor mean you're a clump unable to get out of your own way?
Message Edited by bigmak2010 on 04-18-2005 10:00 AM

I play a level 35 inquisitor on test. Last night I was soloing level 40 solo mobs with no problems (orange con). I can still just manage a single green^^ mob and can still manage a duo of green^ mobs (barely). Before the recent changes I could larger group of green mobs ..now I cannot. Utimately I can still solo very effectivley. From everything I have seen, Plate wearers have the least reason to complain about the changes.

Raridin; thank you SO much. Seriously. I must only be seeing the "we're screwed" messages or something. I'm glad to hear a counter message to other negative ones.

Justs to echo what rar said, there isn't "much" difference when soloing for plates classes, speaking as a berserker myself. It is a little more challenging for me, but I think it should be (I could solo green^^ no problem) The other classes do suffer from what most scouts/mages have been saying while soloing. The real trouble is that when you group/raid you are basically still fighting with your solo stats and abilites. That is a very over simplified summary of the troubles as it all sums up from many things not scaling right or working. Before we get all crazy, this is test and this is how it goes. I would expect at least another round of tweaks to the combat changes, if not several, long before this goes to live. People shouting the sky is falling over this from live are just a bit premature IMHO. No offense intended.

Well i'm just a lowly 12 rogue on test, but from what i've seen soloing hasn't been a problem yet. I could still take down orange solo mobs and green++ mobs. blue ++ gave me major issues, and i didnt attempt red solo as orange do provide me some challenge. I monitored my mitigation/avoidance and they seem to upgrade very fluidly depending on skills, equipment and stats. I'll continue testing to see if it gets worse towards lvl 20 and above.

-Aeg

Hmmmmm so far what I see on comments for test server.... if this goes live there are people waiting to quit the game entirely. It is hard enough to get quests finished in a small group without gimping the classes... now they want to [Removed for Content] the classes... what the heck are you doing SoE? Kill the game?

I'll back up the zerkers hear, I don't think i've ever seen them complain. They know well enough that what us guardians pay for our Defense with laughable offensive skills. Can i solo a single Heroic ^^ of equal level, Maybe, it will allso take me 20 mins to kill it. So i really didn't see the advantage we had over any one else. Honestly these people that think all tanks should be equal are halirous, I am done lets just make every one monks. Infact Monks are the biggest whiners in the game. If they change the combat system at all in live im done, I am really debating dropping my account allready and going off to diffrent game. Allso i am so SICK OF CASUAL GAMER games. that is all

Bigmac, with all due respect, you have not been paying attention to the combat changes on Test.1) The 400 pound gorilla in the living rooom - what is currently on Test is less than half of the changes that will comprise this big Combat Change. There are still a whopping number of changes that have yet to be seen even on Test; just to mention a few: Spell and CA balancing changes to many (if not all) classes, Aggro generation changes, Scout DPS improvements, Coercer and Summoner DPS improvements, Healer balancing, etc. Moreover, it's possible that the caps will be lifted once SOE has the basic combat down right, though perhaps not probable. But neither you nor I have any idea what the final Combat Change is going to look like.2) Templar - What makes you think that more hits will equal more interrupts? There was a Test update a couple of weeks ago that improved the "Channeling" skill to address this specific issue.3) Guardian - The caps are on how far you can buff, not a maximum on any skill or stat. The only classes that will be capable of equalling Guardians' Mitigation in the right groups will be other plate tanks and Cleric-types (since they can wear plate). The only classes that will be able to equal or exceed Guardians' Avoidance int the right groups will be other Fighters and Scouts, since they're the only ones who have Parry.Don't rely on alarmists for your info, bigmac, look at the Test update notes and look for info from people who play on Test (I'll state for the record: I don't, I don't have the time). Those posts are hard to find here - the signal-to-noise ratio is very low - but they're worth finding.
