Moorguard posted this......

Avoidance

- Your likelihood of avoiding an attack is now based on two primary factors:

- The con color of the attacker.

- The type of armor you are wearing. The heavier your armor, the lower your chances of avoiding an attack.

Mitigation

- The base mitigation values of armor have been adjusted as follows: Heavy (35%), Medium (25%), Light (20%), Very Light (10%).

So according to this scouts will now tank a little better than druids, but avoid attacks less than them and casters?

Scouts were already took a big hit when the agility nerf was added 2 or 3 patches back.

*** Mechanics ***

- Heavy armor now mitigates 11% more damage. Light armor now mitigates 35% more damage.

Notice there was no change to medium.

So at this point druids can mitigate damage and avoid attacks about the same as scouts. With the new changes they will be able to avoid attacks better because of lighter armor, and the mitigation will be close to, or the same as, medium wearing classes.

I would just like to know if you are slowly trying to remove scouts from the game? Presently we put out around the same DPS as a Bezerker, and they are attacking from the front of the mob where the defensive skills are much higher than the back where scouts attack. Bezerkers also get group buffs, and can tank. I can't speak for other scout classes, but Swashbucklers get no group buffs that add stats or skills. We get a group invis with a movement penalty, and self invis with an even greater penalty. (because we all know it is harder to hide yourself than an entire group).

I have a feeling the other scout classes have the same amount of unique skills.

I would like to know when we will be getting any of the things we thought we were supposed to have from the beginning.

-Significant higher DPS than tanks, as was stated by the Devs. It was said DPS classes from highest to lowest would be Mages-Scouts-Fighters-Priests

-A fix to medium armor. It seems logical that if you increase light by 35% and heavy by 11% that you should also raise medium by around 20%

I don't want to be a tank, but during fights mob often turn and scouts being in melee range take hits. The hits we take should not be doing as much damage to a scout as they do to a druid.

It seems odd, that before EQ2 came out EQ1 had chain/scout classes right were they should be as far as DPS and ability to take damage. Why hasn't that knowledge passed over to EQ2? Seems a no brainer.

Uh oh... now I will get flamed by people saying "This isn't EQ1".

True but the fact that scout classes were in the right places, with dealing and taking damage, should be universal.

Just a last side note.....

Fixing one archetype doesn't mean I want another nerfed. Nerfing helps nobody in the game. Buffing helps everyone as there will be a time when you are grouping/raiding with someone that you are glad got buffed.

Message Edited by PallorTheSilent on 04-14-2005 05:11 PM

I picked a scout because dps and damage avoidance was our role. We are neither of them atm. What happened?

Scouts were gimpy (from a solo aspect) to begin with. Now they are going to be worse.

Agility, our primary attribute...is worthless.

Agility's defensive attribute has been nerfed.

Agility builds our power pool but ...so what! We can't even use the power we have because of long timers or limited number of frontal attacks.

I recommend that scouts quit bothering with agility altogether and concentrate on stamina and strength instead.

I could give a trolls hairy butt about my mitigaton at this point. Ya'll are whining about the wrong thing right now. Our role is DPS, at least the scouts like me(Ranger) that chose the Predator line. I'm not SUPPOSED to be a tank. I'm perfectly content with the amount(minimal) of damage I can withstand. I can certainly withstand a better blow than the dress-wearing Wizard standing behind me. They take one hit and they look like someone plucked a guitar string...

I'll wear Wonderwoman underoos to fight in if Sony wants, just give me the DPS I'm supposed to have. I'll risk getting my [Removed for Content] whooped, but I should be able to release holy hell on a mob from behind or with my Bow. I cannot even begin to do that presently.

Black

True... DPS is our main role, but as a ranger you can do DPS from a distance.

As a Swashbuckler, I need to get up close an personal. I said I don't want to be a tank. Getting one shotted by a mob, when it is turned and I get a Riposte, as if I was a caster is just wrong. There are druids my same level with the same mitigation as I have. They have one more T5 rare armor than I do, or a nice buckler, but come on. What is the point of medium armor, if it is not a significant gain in mitigation from light armor? With the changes in this up and coming patch, we will be avoiding even less attacks because of medium armor.

I am not asking for a huge change. Just for medium armor to be more in line with progression of other types.

I agree with the above poster, I'd much rather see them fix our dps than to see them bring our damage-taking in line.

Why can't they fix Both?

You need to consider that scouts are not the only ones who wear medium armor. I am sure shamen who pick up some nice aggro, with slows and debuffs, would like to see more of a differance between light and medium armor. The problem is not just with scouts.

you are all right, medium armor is worthless, our dps (even with the best poison) is worthless and agility (our primary attribute) means nothing

this problems exist for some months now, the scout-playerbase have reported it months ago, but the dev team is working on a totaly unnecessary priest nerf... um, I realy see "black" when I think of the combat changes that are about to "happen" anytime soon.

Well I for one will not be playing my scout when these changes come in, I would like to think my scout would be missed, however I don't think he will LOL. Lets face it scouts seem to be 5th class citizens in SOE eyes. Maybe they will nerf em into extinction as more and more ppl see they are becoming a gimped class.

Well at least I have a wizard and a priest to play with. I would highly recomend all to have some fun and try another class.
