View Full Version : -Changes that are NEEDED for EQ2 survival-
<DIV>LOTS of players are disappointed and becoming bored with certain aspects of EQ2. This in my opinion is largely due to a lack of variation among players. The key elements that lack variation are:</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>1) Armor graphics</DIV> <DIV>2) Lvl 20/40/50 fun spells</DIV> <DIV>3) Prefixes</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Armor graphics: EVERYONE of a certain class (not even subclass, just plain class) looks identical. Any tank 45+ has a full suit of either rubicite or ebon (OMG both types have the same graphic! Doesn't surprize me). People need different types of armor to stand out amongst a huge amount of players. My idea is a great one! Put in NPC Blacksmiths that will charge a fee to customize your armor graphic (brings up a customization window). This will be a great money sink that players will love to use.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Lvl 20/40/50 fun spells: These spells are fun spells, but why aren't they fun? Because every subclass gets the same one. Theres no real motivation towards these levels for the fun spell really. My solution: When a player reaches that lvl, a list of fun spells comes up for them to choose from. It would be even better if each subclass gets a different list. This will increase player variation even more. When observing a player using one of these new chosen skills, the reaction will be "Whoa." instead of "Oh, a lvl 40."</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Prefixes: At guild lvl 30, everyone gets the option to get their prefix, the only differences between them are male/female, good/evil. Also from 150 writs you get a prefix. My problem with this is simple. The prefix is boring and EVERYONE guild lvl 30 has the same given one. Again my solution is simple: Upon getting the prefix, a list should be generated to pick from. This would be fun for players to get and for players to see others with different, interesting prefixes.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>If you have read all this, then you know the magic word. VARIATION. It is something EQ2 needs badly, and once we are given it, I know that the game will be extremely more enjoyable for everyone!</DIV> <DIV> <DIV> </DIV></DIV>

I think most people will agree that we need more and better armor graphics, since the ones the game shipped with were hmm.... a little disappointing. However I fail to see how the 'fun spells' are essential to the survival of the game. Me, as a brigand at lvl 34, only have one right now (where other classes have three at this level), and I don't think I will quit the game over not having as many as everyone else. Also, Khalan, you are not correct. There is at least three guilds that have reached lvl 30. Bane from Blackburrow being the first, then Exile from Befallen and last I know of is Forged Souls in Permafrost. That was a few weeks ago so I'm sure there are more by now. Now, having said that, I don't believe there should be a choice for the title you get when your guild hits lvl 30, other than gender and city. That title in particular shows ONE very important achievement in game, if there were so many nobility titles they would be meaningless. By keeping them scarce, you mantain the uniqueness and meaning of these nobility titles. And if you really really want....you can still go and buy the title in the opposing city, since they City Merchants will sell anything to you as long as you're invisible and have the cash and status required. By the way jetau8, you can actually get three different titles with each faction, one at every tier. Each tier takes approx. 140-150 writs exclusively with that one faction to achieve, according to the reports. Hope that helps, -Alysthra Brigand of Forged Souls Permafrost <div></div>

<DIV>This post robbed me of precious minutes of my life reading it. If you really think that these fluffy, goofy, trivial issues are going to have any defining role in EQ2's survival versus the massive spell scaling issues and other mechanical issues you are obviously not ready for anything that plays on hardware more sophisticated than an Atari 2600. I think my IQ dropped just from coming in contact with this nonsense post.</DIV>

<DIV>In this post, I'm talking about EQ2 months from now. Yes, the main issues right now are bugs, balancing, etc. Later down the road when more and more people are lvl 50, they are going to want to have variation amongst them. Otherwise getting the highest lvl is almost pointless if you don't stand out from others. Different armor customizations will assist this, as well as the ability to pick your fun spells/prefixes. Right now seeing myself and other lvls 50's, everyone looks the exact same. There's no fun in that at all. Imagine if these characters in the future had different armor graphics, different illusions, and different original prefixes? The game would be a lot more enjoyable for the high lvl characters.</DIV>

This will just cause everyone to make their armor all black or whatever. In my opinion, I think that the greatness of getting high end game loot is that its supposed to look superior than all other armor. It's like if your grandfather gave you his gold watch, you're not gonna paint it silver right? Giving the players the ability to change their "armor" look will just mean nothing will change other than if all 45+ armor is green it will be black now.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Just my 2 cents.</DIV>
