View Full Version : How do you guys test
<DIV>Would you test everything carefully? <DIV>I dunno but if it were me, I'd compile everything, run it on my test system and if it hasn't exploded after 30 seconds I'd give the thumbs up to the patch-rollout team.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>I'd make sure bards were broken first though!</DIV>

Let me copy my character over at will and I'll do that. Have regular wipes of the test server and I will. I'm not levelling two characters just so I can test. Test servers are meant for testing things not the building of communities. <div></div>

<DIV>So, lets say they do copies to test server.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>And then bugs still get through.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Then what are you going to say? Tough luck?</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Then you decide it's not worth it. But by that time, the test server community is destroyed and is a desert wasteland.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Then there is even less testing.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Hrmm.. I think we should stay with how things are.</DIV>

While I do appreciate the testers who do test (I mean the guys who play on test server), there is absolutely no way in hell I will ever make a character on Test. I pay and play to play the game, not to debug it. While bugs and whatnot are to be expected, I think it is clear that alot of things are not tested, but rather just assumed fixed after some code changes (I hope at least that much was done). There is no logical or acceptable excuse for why longshank was broken until LU#6, when it was mentioned to have been fixed some 4-5 times prior. I think SOE really needs to bite the bullet and simply pay people to test their fixes. Anything they change, just have them give it a once over. I am sure EQ2 makes more than enough money to pay a handful or two of peoples salaries to cover this. I would not expect it to catch everything, but the majority of it I would. Obviously Test server is not catching a plethora of mistakes, and with 40odd people it is no wonder (at that time listed) it is no wonder. I do not seriously believe people who do it for free actually try to test all the new changes. I know I would not, to me it would be a less crowded server. Merkades, 50th Ranger. <div></div>

<P>Does anyone know how to go about getting on the test server?</P> <P>I do think that SOE should provide players some type of reward for their contributions.</P>
