View Full Version : Epic Stuff - Not sure where to put it

<DIV>I've been looking for a while for somewhere to voice my opinion on epic or even normal level 50 content in this game, but there appears to be nowhere for the growing number of level 50 players to voice their boredom.  I put it here, because I figured the devs would see it.  Feel free to move this thread to whatever forum it belongs in :smileywink:</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>First, I though about putting it in combat and encounters.  The raid content is all getting old, and everything is easily beatable now with the exception of Zek.  The only reason Zek is hard is due to the insane lag that you experience<FONT color=#000000> </FONT>from the poorly made models.  I figured I would ask for more raid content that is even harder then the hardest that exists now to push people to their limits.  Right now we three group the hardest group x4 encounters in the game.  We actually 2 grouped the high level drakota before Darathar just last night. </DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>This gets me to my second thought.  Why not post it in items and equipment.  The Antonica Drakota dropped a master chest with a whitestone mantle.  This has 8 sta, 8 wis, and more or less stats for a T4 piece of armor.  The only 'T5 master' thing about it is it's AC.  The effect only wards 50 points of dmg 5 % of the time you get hit, which is absolutely nothing.  So I was going to post about master loot actually being master quality.  I would also have posted that mobs should have more in their loot tables, and drop potentially more then one master, or a master item and spell. (especially contested mobs)</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Thinking on loot made me think of posting in zones and population.  Why not have one or two expansive zones for hardcore players to spend some time in.  I wouldn't even be asking for special loot tables, since I know we are so 'casual oriented'.  A large zone that would take a guild a good 5-6 hours to clear (or maybe even just get to a checkpoint that they can port back to at a later point).  Maybe the zone would have several encounters at this time that have a 'chance' to drop master loot, which would have their tables linked to raid mobs currently found in the world that can be raided at whim.  If you want to attract the casual player you need a few hardcore role models to stay around for them to gape at.  Right now almost half of my guild is on 'break' since we can do everything in the game right now easily.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>What about 'Spells, abilities, and combat arts'?  Rare master spells don't nearly scale as well as they should, and our level 50 abilities are sub-par at best for the most part.  Why give people a great taunt at 50 that can't hit raid mobs, or a shield that still doesn't count mitigation or work most of the time?</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Even live events could be hit.  I could talk about live events that high level players really have no chance of hearing about that gives low level players really cool titles.  I don't scoff at this, because I love the idea of giving non-hardcore people unique things.  I just think hardcore players also need unique things.  Sure we can bust our butts for 60 pp horse, but really what is the point if we don't have all the content I talked about above that lays the framework to get that 60 pp by a means other then being a camp [Removed for Content].</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>So in conclusion I have no idea where to put this post.  Wherever it belongs I am sure you will find the right place for it.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Thank you</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Grondax Ix'Thania of the Shard</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Member of Genesis on Highkeep</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Level 50 Guardian / Level 49 Woodworker</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Server First Discovery for the Prismatic Longsword</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV> </DIV>

I think thsy should add in an instance version of Cl or ant or some really big zone like that. then put in alot of groupx3/x4 mobs in there. and I mean like every mob is group x3 or x4, kinda like PoF was back in old EQ.  and they could have the boss of that zone be a group x5(yeah I think they should implement this) <div></div>

<P>*sniff* I miss PoF</P> <P>First day, zoning in, getting backstabbed for 800...ah, the memories.</P> <P>The only problem I can see with a raid level antonica (or other large zone) is...is your idea instanced or not?  If it's instanced, then SOE will surely worry about too much phat lewt entering the game.  It's doable already, they just don't realize it, but you can take your guild around the Norrathian world, hitting all epic instances, for more than a handful of chances at a master chest. Why wander and travel all over the place when you can get the same number of master chest chances in one zone?</P> <P>If it's not instanced (but level restricted maybe?) then you get into contested spawns, and oh the grief that those bring, especially when you pack several of them in a zone.  I remember the server resets and rushing to ToV to try and get all the dragons first...ah, the memories.  It seems with instanced epic zones, SOE is trying to minimize the contested spawns idea.  Not remove it, mind you, since there are still epic mobs in non-instanced zones, I mean I think someone at SOE at least realizes that a little competition is fun for those competing (usually).</P> <P>Personally, on the surface, I think it's a great idea.</P> <P>OP is right on the mark too with his post, but as with all MMOs I've ever played, no matter what level of "high end content" they promise, they always, always underestimate how quickly it will be conquored.</P> <P>Figgs</P>

<P>Yeah when I first heard about the instance lvl50 zones I thought they would be actual zones, not single - three encounters at most. With the introduction of the adventure pack the new raid zone has come the closest to an actual raid zone, taking about 1 hr to complete and fighting through the crypt of thaen zone. But, it would be nice to get a real zone with puzzles and such for a 24 raid party that would take days to complete and once you conquered certain puzzles you could pass that area to advance, like planes. Obviously though with all the balances and fixes SoE is still doing and the fact that the first expansion pack is still a ways off I'm not expecting much for a few months. They already seem to have their hands full with things that should have been fixed in beta. Overall though, the raid content so far is extremely easy. My guild has conquered everything this game has to offer, darathar, vox, venekor, all 5 instaces, adventure pack, various x2 and x4, etc. Basically all their is to do now is farm raid zones and get everyone in full master gear before the expansion pack.</P> <P>I did notice that they seem to be upping alot of x4 mobs in this LU6 which is probably for the best. You know it's too easy when u can beat mobs like fist and vaz'gok with 2 groups.</P>
