*** Tradeskills ***

- When harvesting from stones at all levels, rare clusters and gemstones will now be found about twice as often. I tend to agree that some of the rares need to show up a bit more then the are (on AB at least), however, this needs to be gradually. Doubling overnight will literally drop the prices so that anyone that has invested in rares for crafting will be stuck holding the bag. Add the selling out of vaults into the picture and things prices will really take a dive.

Well, then the resellers will snatch them up, everyone will want more stuff crafted, and things will balance out again.

Retribution - Befallen

THe price of rares dropping is a bad thing, is what your saying.

I have to dissagree, alot of people are happy for this, most of us just need a rare to finish a green heritage quest, its not right that our option is harvest for weeks in hopes of getting lucky, or down 40g-5plat and buy one, and that doesnt even cover the crafters additional combine fee. I am glad rares have the potential to recieve down to earth prices now.

The official version is that the droprate was bugged by miscalculation in the past and now formulas simply got adjusted to what they were meant to be. Actually it means people won´t have 1-2 Adept 3 spells/tier but 3-4 if they invest some time. Doesn´t seem too bad to me. And aditionally alchemists and sages should be able to profit from it. Edit: This patch only changes rates for rares gotten from rocks. Not for wood, roots or traps.

Message Edited by Jan Itor on 03-21-2005 09:09 AM

The drop rate will go from 0.05% to 1% - I doubt there will be a flood.

Message Edited by yooboo on 03-21-2005 10:03 AM

Not sure what's in the water where you are living but it seems to have some effect. Let's start out, I'll paraphrase from the responses: Do I think higher drops are bad? In my 1st sentence I wrote : I tend to agree that some of the rares need to show up a bit more then the are (typo on the should be they) Seems clear to me that I think it is good. The issue as mentioned if you do thing too quick (and dbl'ing is fast) someone gets left holding the bag. Meaning the potential is there that you bought an item for a good deal of coin yesterday, and today/tomorrow the price is halved. Hence the suggestion do it gradually. Will it flood the market with the amount now, not really, but it does have some potential. I used to buy steel for 5G, haven't touched one for less then 8G in weeks. Let's say saved and scrimped for a suit of steel armor and just spent over 1 Plat on it, and the next day you could buy it for 50G. How would you feel? Would you be a happy camper? or would feel like you just got pulled over a barrel? As to responding too late, I read Moorguards post this morning, it was made Friday, are you telling me a you think a good test lasts a whole weekend? and this 2 day test actually gives you some reasonable feedback?

According to you this would increase the drop rate by 20 times the current amount well over the 2 times the current amount that they said. I think you ment the rate will go from 0.05% to 0.10%.

The reason, as far as I can tell, for increasing the harvest rate for jewelry/spell rares, is that there simply aren't enough out there to satisfy the many diverse professions that use them. Rare ore is for armor for plate and chain users and weapons for most melee classes, rare wood is for wooden weapons boxes and furniture, rare cloth is for cloth wearing classes and bags, but rare gemstones/metal are used not only for jewelry usable by every class, but also in adept III spells/skills for EVERY class. In order to acheive parity they needed to increase the drop rate.

Stone rares were beng found 1/2 as often as all other rares. They were brought up to par. This will benefit everyone as the stones are key in making spell/ability upgrades and chain/heavy armor. That well inflated Adept III you saw the other day for 1.5pp won't have to be 1.5pp anymore simply because the market will balance itself eventually with this change. Notice how the stone rares sell well above most others atm?

-Aeg

Message Edited by Aegorian on 03-22-2005 11:09 AM
